Power cut schedule in my street today in Kyiv, as Russian missiles and drones keep pummeling Ukrainian energy infrastructure. 15 hours without light--and it's still October.

Any American company providing aid and comfort to Russia will be written about by the press and made known to Congress. Many of us in Congress will make it a point to highlight any company that buys the potentially illegal blood diesel from Russia. Proceed at your own risk.

Video showing the result of Ukraine’s latest long-range drone strikes on a Russian oil refinery in Novokuybyshevsk, Samara oblast. 🎥 from various local telegram channels.
The Ukrainians have been quite clear also that they would not completely halt strikes on Russian refineries until Russia stopped its attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Kyiv has taken a more cautious approach to refinery strikes since Trump's threats and his unilateral ceasefire, but it has not been a policy to halt them through the elections. The position is to strike in retaliation for Russia's energy strikes and particularly heinous attacks on civilians, such as those yesterday in Dnipro and Chernihiv.

“They killed us . . . The newspaper no longer exists. The Russian authorities and the Russian security services have forced our editorial team to cease its operations,” Sergei Sokolov, Novaya Gazeta’s editor, said in a video posted on its website. “We have been stripped of all our resources. Entirely. This is a co-ordinated campaign.”

Extraordinary scenes right now in Russian-held Oleshky, Ukraine's human rights ombudsman is chatting with local residents. Evacuation from the frontline city should begin very soon, Ukrainian MP said this morning 527 people have asked to go back to Ukrainian-controlled territory.
We are in Oleshky! The Ukrainian delegation has safely reached the city. The ceasefire has been in effect for 80 hours and remains in place. I am currently on the ground, speaking with local residents to hear about their needs and understand what kind of assistance they need most. I will share more details later. This work is being carried out in accordance with the agreements reached with Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights, Yana Lantratova, with the support and coordination of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump @FLOTUS

Regarding refinery strikes. There has been an established pattern. Whenever Ukraine showed restraint, or halted strikes on refineries, Russia simply continued its strike campaign against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and continued to strike civilian targets in cities.

The clones have invaded US politics. In Ukraine we call these same-named office-seekers “clone candidates.” It’s been a tactic deployed by political parties for decades: recruiting people with exact or similar names to run against established candidates, or going so far as to pay people to change their names to those of incumbents, to peel off votes. Often there are multiples on a single ballot. An example from Ukraine’s last parliamentary elections in 2019: rferl.org/a/wait-thats-my-na…
SCOOP: Democrats have insisted they have nothing to do with the other Dan Sullivan on Alaska's Senate ballot. But aides with the Mary Peltola campaign and DSCC were part of a monthslong secret plan to recruit him to run -- as well as other candidates. nytimes.com/2026/10/28/us/po…
