For years I wanted to do done-for-you.
I knew how to do it. Better margins, all of it.
But I didn't. Because in agency land you kind of get one chance to knock it out of the park. Miss, and you're screwed.
And I wasn't about to put my entire livelihood on a bunch of humans who might not show up that day.
They're great people.
But they're humans.
So I waited. Didn't touch it until the last six months, once AI got us to where the results are consistent.
Sometimes waiting isn't fear. Sometimes you're just smart enough to know it's not time yet.
Now that it's time, we're all in.
My brother works at a very large company.
They built their own internal AI and told the whole team to use it.
Put company data into ChatGPT on your personal phone? That's an immediate termination-level event.
They have a rule for this.
Does your team know yours?
What does your business say to a lead who reaches out after you close?
A traditional autoresponder is pretty stupid. It says you're closed and someone will get back to them.
That lead isn't waiting until morning.
What does a lead get from you after hours right now?
Not sure how to sell AI to your clients?
You don't need a new playbook. Run the same play you already run.
Every time you get in front of a prospect, run the play. Don't skip steps.
Which step do you skip the most?
AI tools aren't going to replace you.
Someone who actually operationalizes them might.
Buying the tool is the easy part. Building the SOPs and the structure around it is the work.
So be honest. Are you buying AI tools, or operationalizing them?
If a tool isn't tied to profit and measurement, what's the benefit of it?
I look at some of my own legacy stuff and honestly, a lot of it is just shiny.
Which tool in your business could you actually tie to profit?
Rolling out AI in your business?
Getting your team's buy-in is mission critical, and that comes from you.
One owner brought a whole table of his team to our event. When I talked to them, they were all excited, and that came from him.
How bought in is your team right now?
AI didn't remove the expertise. It removes the busywork.
Automate a bad sales process and it just gets faster at being bad.
Same with marketing. Add AI without a real system and you get a bunch of custom GPTs doing junk fast.
What would you fix before you automate it?

Could you afford a full team of marketing and salespeople?
If not, lead gen lands on you. It's not comfortable and it's not easy, so it rarely gets your focus.
Who in your business actually owns lead gen today?

Ever try to build your own marketing system on a Sunday, between client work?
I was exactly that guy.
You get about 25% built. Then a client emergency lands and it sits there half-finished.
That's not a discipline problem.
What's sitting half-built in your business?
Some people hear "wealth" and think Lambos.
My definition: I can do whatever I want, whenever I want.
That only works because I built systems around it.
If every lead and sale runs through you, you're the bottleneck.
What in your business still can't happen without you?

For years I didn't think of my MSP as an IT company.
We were a sales and marketing firm that delivered IT services.
The work mattered. In my opinion it came second to finding new people to help.
Swap in whatever you sell. Same rule.
What changes if you run yours that way?
