i want to like Luka, and if he plays really well for more time i am ecstatic to drop concerns and be a fan of the player.

Early Film Watching Takeaways:
I need to see more Horns/Iverson sets involving getting Ty off the ball early in the shot clock and Cam & Ced on ball with Edey in screening action. The team can be a lot more effective if Ty Jerome gets off the ball & comes back to it late into the clock.
The Top Action & Spread PNR. Should be reserved for the last 10-12 seconds of the shot clock. (Video 1)
In the second unit, I would love to see Omax, Grant, Hendricks, or GG operating as the screen man in the Spread PNR or Top Action to have a more skilled a dangerous threat in the short roll.
If you’re not going to play Boozer at the 5 with the bench unit, I’d rather see what one of those options looks like in a small ball lineup. Post is not rebounding, shooting, or protecting the rim well enough to not at least warrant a different look until isaiah Stewart returns. If you insist on playing Post. I love what New Orleans did with Karlo, put him in a corner and allow a more dangerous Forward or Wing to set the High Ball Screen (Grant, Omax, GG, Hendricks, Coward, Wells, Spencer) preferably Grant, GG, or Hendricks. We couldn’t find any other image? No other image portrays the perceived incompetence of our biracial HC more than a monkey????
Alright! Who’s ready for a good ol’ fashioned rant by Fake RC?? It’s been a while, so let’s not waste any time. Let’s goooo!
There’s one specific nuance about the three-guard lineup that is exposing Mitch Johnson as the fraud he is. He has done this in all 8 games so far…
If you haven’t noticed, watch for it tonight: At about the 8-minute mark of the 1st quarter (usually at about 7:41), Mitch is going to sub out De’Aaron Fox as his first move (most likely for Julian). I’m sure most of you have noticed this pattern. No big deal, right? Well, not so fast.
Mitch will then bring De’Aaron back at around the 4-minute mark, once the 2nd unit is in, and from that point forward, most of De’Aaron’s time on the court will be as the PG for the 2nd unit.
Who cares, right? It’s not a big deal, RC. Get over it.
No. It is a big deal when you look at the details because it’s proof of something we all know: Mitch does not have the stones to tell De’Aaron, Steph or Dylan that for the sake of the team, one of them has to come off the bench. So, he’s found his little loophole: instead of having a tough conversation with one of them, he’ll just sub out De’Aaron FOUR MINUTES INTO A GAME, and make him our unofficial backup PG without actually telling him that’s what he is (again, 4 minutes into the game. Before the man has even had time to break a sweat).
The whole “three-guard lineup” thing is actually a false narrative. So far this season, the three of them have shared only 91 total minutes together on the court. And 36 of those 91 minutes have been from those first 4 to 5 minutes of each of those games combined. Fox leads both Castle and Harper in minutes as the PG for the 2nd unit by a whopping margin.
De’Aaron Fox is essentially playing the role of unofficial backup PG without the title. Mitch does not possess the stones to have the tough conversations that come with being the HC of this team. We saw it in the Finals last year, where he refused to make any adjustments.
And Mitch also apparently does not possess the brainpower to try anything other than playing Wemby with 4 smalls. We haven’t seen even one minute of Luke and Wemby on the floor together. And don’t even get me started about Tarris Reid only getting garbage time minutes, even though he is probably the best rebounder on the team.
Oh, btw…The Spurs are not a good rebounding team. At all. Yes, we are 4th in the league this season at 48.5 rpg. But 12.4 of those are Wemby. Our 2nd leading rebounder Castle at 6.1. Read that again. And it isn’t even that Luke is a bad rebounder. Per 36 mins, he’s averaging 9.8. Not great, but not awful. Oh btw, how many rebs is Tarris Reid Jr. averaging per 36 mins? Glad you asked. 27. TWENTY SEVEN! But, ya Mitch. Keep playing small ball. And keep being scared of your team. I actually genuinely wonder if Mitch has any kind of idea how he’s gonna use Tobias once he’s healthy 🤷🏻♂️
As Gregg Popovich once famously said, “if Manu Ginobili can come off the bench, anybody can. And I don't wanna hear it.”
I don’t wanna hear it, Mitch.

Darryn is all D by year 5 once he learns how to consistently execute and time up the more mundane digs and rotations. He is a LOUD defender for better and for worse rn, but I 75% trust him to get there with the little sooner rather than later
