Auto-withdraw from Cash App → @Bitkey is here. Eligible Cash App customers can automatically move bitcoin to their paired Bitkey when their BTC balance reaches its chosen threshold. Set it once. Keep buying bitcoin on Cash App. Help protect it with Bitkey. It's that easy.

This is a fantastic, comprehensive overview of Bitkey. Ben from @BTCsessions turned over nearly every stone in the Bitkey onboarding, money movement, and recovery flows and documented his experiences as he went. I think a lot of the design decisions that went into Bitkey are presented here in the real-world contexts we were designing for.
What happens to your Bitcoin if you lose your phone AND your hardware wallet? I stress-tested @Bitkey through a series of escalating disaster scenarios — including the company vanishing entirely. Find out what happened on @SOVsessions 👇️ youtu.be/toT8kQbFvLY

Speaker spotlight: @clay_garrett joins Mita TechTalks 2026 🧡 Clay leads engineering for @Bitkey, the self-custody Bitcoin wallet from @blocks — rethinking security and recovery with multi-key architecture instead of seed phrases. Clay was also one of our heroes in the immediate aftermath of the Coldcard security failure, testing systems, identifying weaknesses, and educating users on Bitcoin self-custody best practices. I enjoyed sitting down with @natbrunell to chat about all the things, including how @Bitkey works and the thought process behind its design.
What if you could secure your Bitcoin without ever worrying about a seed phrase? @Bitkey's @clay_garrett explains how it works — even if you lose your phone and the device. Plus: what Block's engineers found investigating the #Coldcard attack, and whether the hacker left a trail. “This is so easy I don’t trust it” is a perfectly normal response to your first emotionally available wallet. Welcome to Bitkey. 🧡
Damn. Got the @Bitkey courtesy of @JoelBomgar and it’s really just too easy. So easy, I must be doing something wrong. After years of toiling in Bitcoin, this is so easy I don’t trust it. 🤣 I’m playing with my Bitcoins now and plan to do this a while before making an official review.

Lots of people have been asking for a demo of Bitkey's Emergency Exit Kit. So here it is! This is the way you can move your funds if access to the official Bitkey app ever becomes unavailable to you for any reason.

Also works without the Bitkey servers being available. It doesn't call out to our services at all.

"Your phone isn’t 'reading the wallet.' It’s asking the wallet to perform authenticated cryptographic operations and getting the results back over NFC. Elegant design and nice work, @Bitkey." 🫡 Love that you just rolled up your sleeves and explored, @Pathfinder!
I scanned my new @Bitkey hardware wallet with an NFC analyzer to see how it talks to your phone. Then I compared the scan against Bitkey's open-source firmware. Follow me down the rabbit hole! (and ty again @JoelBomgar for the generous gift) nitter.cf/Pathfinder/status/2092…

On a couple of occasions, wallet scrutiny has spotted a hiccup in our reproducible builds and every time it’s helped us harden our pipeline. For example we now have a nightly job that ensure the job is reproducible and we get pinged in Slack if it fails. This is a security win for everyone and having public accountability makes the software safer IMO.
Just wrong and misinformed. When we pinged @nunchuk_io they were able to ship a reproducible build in less than a week. Reproducible builds *is* the first step towards security. Moreover, we don't ask people to trust our findings - we encourage them to verify themselves.

If the cost of making your build reproducible was greatly reduced would you be more inclined to do so? I’m curious if those of us who have done the work to figure out how to do this published guides and prompts that reduced the up-front cost, if more wallet makers would adopt it. For what it’s worth there’s a lot of value beyond just customers. Our release pipeline leans on reproducible builds to build Bitkey in multiple disparage environments and compare the hashes so that if anything in one build environment was compromised, the release would be halted automatically. FWIW once we got Bitkey’s reproducibility set up and stabilized, it probably only costs us a couple of eng-day per year of maintenance with the right tooling. High ROI in my opinion for that security boost alone.

The more I think about it the more the Coinkite brand gave off insecure, jealous boyfriend vibes. It’s ok if she looks at other guys, bro. Lots of good looking people out there.

"The hardware itself feels premium, the UX is probably the best I've experienced with a hardware wallet so far, and the security model is genuinely interesting." Appreciate the thoughtful review @iamdaveparker! As you use it, please let us know what else you'd like to in our roadmap.
Just received my @Bitkey hardware wallet, and after setting it up and digging into how it actually works, my first impression is very positive. What makes Bitkey interesting isn't just the hardware. It's the entire approach to Bitcoin self-custody. 🔐 2-of-3 multisig by default Instead of relying on a single seed phrase/private key, Bitkey uses three keys: • one on your phone • one inside the Bitkey hardware device • one held by Bitkey Any 2 of the 3 are required. That means Bitkey can't move your bitcoin on its own, while losing a single device doesn't automatically mean losing access to your funds. 📱 The user experience is excellent Setup was surprisingly simple. The app feels polished and walks you through everything without making multisig feel like multisig. The fingerprint authentication and NFC interaction with your phone also make approving actions feel much more natural than the usual hardware wallet experience. 🌱 No seed phrase This will probably be the most controversial part for Bitcoiners. Bitkey deliberately doesn't give you a traditional 12/24-word seed phrase. Recovery is built around the 2-of-3 architecture instead. Lose your phone? You can recover. Lose your Bitkey? You can recover. There are also Recovery Contacts for a scenario where you lose both. And Bitkey provides an Emergency Exit Kit designed to let you move your bitcoin without relying on Bitkey's servers if that ever becomes necessary. There is even built-in Bitcoin inheritance planning. Bitkey seems to be trying to make serious Bitcoin self-custody accessible to people who would never manage seed backups and a traditional multisig setup correctly. The hardware itself feels premium, the UX is probably the best I've experienced with a hardware wallet so far, and the security model is genuinely interesting. For someone moving from a traditional single-key hardware wallet toward multisig, without wanting all the complexity of DIY multisig, I can see a very strong use case here. 9/10 first impression. This review was made possible with the help of @JoelBomgar. Thanks for making it happen! Great product @jack 💕

Exactly what a psyop would say.
We understand the bitcoin community is seeing more Bitkey content in your algorithm. While our team is flattered, this is not a "psyop." We have not changed our marketing in recent weeks. However, current events have led to many new people discovering, using, and discussing Bitkey as a solution to several common self-custody problems. We will continue to help securely store your bitcoin as we have for years. We also reserve the right to tell people what we have built, what we are going to build, and why. To our longtime customers, those who have just joined us, and those still exploring self-custody solutions, our team appreciates all your questions and comments. Please keep the feedback coming.
