"Sheikh Ibrahim bin Adel Al-Madani, the Muezzin of Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah, has passed away at the age of 51. 💔
A familiar and beloved voice of the Grand Mosque, Sheikh Ibrahim regularly gave the Adhan for Fajr prayer and the Takbeerat of Eid. He also performed the important role of “Tabligh” behind the Imam during prayers.
A voice that called millions to prayer from the holiest mosque has now returned to its Creator.
إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون "
May Allah forgive, and have mercy on his soul, may Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus without questioning.

Mine was when I realized survival jobs can pay bills but slowly kill your confidence if you stay there too long.
I came into the UK with degrees and years of experience, yet there was a point I was just trying to “enter anywhere” to survive.
Then one day I sat down and told myself:
“If companies back home trusted me with systems, projects and responsibilities… why am I moving like I have nothing to offer here?”
That mindset shift changed everything for me.
A lot of Nigerians abroad are more qualified than they even realize. Sometimes the environment just makes you forget your value for a while.

People need to tell their stories! Moving to a new country is not for the faint hearted.
Story of my life when I moved here just after losing a large part of my savings to Crypto and some start up investments ⬇️
Eight years as a senior data analyst in Nigeria 🇳🇬
Landed in Canada 🇨🇦 and spent months getting rejected for customer service jobs. Apple Store. Call centres. Everything.
Then I walked into a cold calling interview. Loud music. Phones everywhere. They handed me a script.
Made my first cold call. The lady heard my accent and ended the call immediately.😭 (God abeg x 3)
I kept going. Got through the day and got the job offer on the spot.
35k a year. Five days in office. 8am starts.
I asked if that was the best they could do.
He said yes.
I took the offer letter home. Showed my wife.
She looked me in the eye and said that was below me.
That week I stopped applying sideways and went back to data.
Three months later I was hired as lead analyst in a Fortune 500 company.
Nigerian professionals living abroad, what was the moment that made you realize you needed to stop chasing survival jobs?

Half of corporate success is perception
Stop doing all the work silently in DMs. Drop updates in team channels.
Document things. Speak up. Let people SEE your contribution. Out of sight is out of budget.
Strategic visibility will save you in corporate.
