We're honoured to share that CODE has once again received a 5-star rating and been named one of Canada's Top 100 Charities by Charity Intelligence Canada!
This recognition reflects our commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of the resources entrusted to us.
But none of this would be possible without the dedication of our local partners, staff, and the generosity of our incredible community of supporters. Thank you for believing in the power of literacy and making this work possible.
Together, we're helping create a world where every child has the opportunity to learn to read and write, and the freedom to imagine a future full of possibilities.

Young people in Malawi, many of them teen mothers and former child brides, are leading change, from improving school attendance rates to helping change community opinions on girls’ education.
CODE and FAWEMA’s iHEARD project, co-funded by @CanadaDev met the initiative of young people themselves and, together, produced change that reached from individual lives into the wider community.

At 11 years old, Grace started school in Grade 1, years behind where she should have been.
This summer, she graduated high school, one of the first girls from CODE and @wecarelib's GALI project to reach that milestone. She sat down with our board member Rachel to talk about how far she's come.

Today is International #LiteracyDay, and @UNESCO_DG Khalid El-Enany said it best: "we reaffirm literacy as a fundamental human right and a powerful force for transforming lives, economies and societies."
In Liberia, Grace is proof of what that looks like in practice. One of the first students to come through CODE and @wecarelib's GALI program, she recently graduated high school. A powerful milestone that started with learning to read.

At #AFRICAFLEX2026, CODE was proud to facilitate and moderate a discussion on turning teaching materials into better learning outcomes. Drawing on experiences from Malawi and across the region, the conversation highlighted the importance of teacher development, coaching, school leadership, and local partnerships in strengthening foundational learning.
Thank you to @ADEAnet for hosting this important conversation and to @fawe_malawi and all of the panellists for sharing their expertise and experiences.
They're on their way! Earlier today, our #SummitforLiteracy team began their climb of #MountKilimanjaro. Over the coming days, they'll take on Africa's highest peak to help create brighter futures through literacy for children in #Tanzania.
