Procreate paint practice/study of French knight Pierre Terrail. Referred to as “the last true Knight”. Painted by Henri-Félix Philippoteax, 1839. This just a tiny portion of the painting. It is epic. Mine is super messy up close. I am finding that working with oil paints has changed how I am working with digital. Less pressure to be tidy. Glad the art world changed. Totally freeing to be more human

Thank you to @ShowdeerArt for starting the 1/1 auction for Maria Bambina on Networked Art! So excited! Soulbound patron editions available for 24 hours too.
Maria Bambina is a digital relic exploring the mechanics of preservation. Inspired by traditional devotion to the incorruptible infant Mary, this work defies decay in a decentralized infrastructure. Maria Bambina utilizes Slow-Scan (SSTV) protocol to encode the art directly into audible frequency tones that can be decoded without use of the internet, ensuring 'unalterable' data.
Hosted permanently at mariabambina.ar.io, this piece is anchored to Arweave so that the art and its instructions remain addressable long after platforms shift or disappear. 🍓

I should mention that openai, anthropic/claude, tiktok, and so many others are doing the same on the website. Its all documented and tallied. Crazy to see how often the bots are visiting. Its like a zombie hoard. I wish i had known about cloudflare years ago - the tools are very handy in fighting the bots. 🤖 They are probably all up in your business too

"The +1625% spike (69 requests) for OpenAI just means ChatGPT-User discovered your site recently and started hitting it heavily".
There is a lady here that proudly announces taking peoples art and sticking it into ai. She likes to skim my recent work (and probably yours too) and ask her bot to create a new drop from my ideas. Its cute to see her take on anatomical venuses/Gremlin, my piece Robin Hood created a whole series for recent turmoil across the globe, her spin on toppyeton.art/rauschenberg, and sooooo many other art projects and pieces, kinda wild howwwww much she takes.
Even when I do a study, she will suddenly have a new drop that heavily source the art I studied. its so crazy. Maybe her generation is cool with that? I think perhaps some of the boomer generation are used to right click save and think eveerything is free game.
The ultimate problem I am having and seeing for many artists is this, when an ai user takes your art and puts it into ai, does a little but of a paint over, how do we show others what was done?
We can see it. This is our art. We live and breathe what we make. But presenting the theft is difficult to the viewer who will just see the theft as similarities. There are even artifacts of my art in hers. directly when you lay the pieces on top of eachother. my snake became a hand. Things like that. is fucking disturbing hell world we are in. you make life worse.

here are some that she sourced. one time she took my oil painting grisaille and turned the tiger into a snake. i made a post about it and her art was suddenly deleted.

its all so gross. i don't care most days until i randomly see it. just the laziness is outstanding. and shes making this place look bad. people hate art and artists from here. i love this place and i love being part of the magic. but holy hell there are some really terrible people.

it used to be really fun and exciting to share stuff and marvel at the work that all of you were making. now it just dreadful knowing some idiot is gonna shove all of our love and life into the machine for two seconds of self gratification. my website has had thousands of bot interactions, scrapers, you name it. i have been eaten alive. but when its my peers doing it, jesus christ its just so dissapointing.

Procreate speed paint. A fragment of the larger original piece on the right. This took 3 and a half hours. Everything always takes way longer than expected or looks buttttt i learn so much! I have gone back to loving the large airbrush again.
In highschool i had a science teacher who would get upset if anyone would crumple a piece of paper. She said it was noise pollution and would make you uncrumple the paper ball. I always think about her when i am drawing. I imagine her rage at the pixel pollution created from the push and pull of the paint. 🧹

Grateful Maria Bambina found a home! Thank you always @ShowdeerArt for being such a wonderful supporter of my art, means so much to me! ❤️🔥

Feels pretty crummy to see who is scraping your website for art. I have tried opting out of things but it is not possible. I saw an interview where Grimes said every artist had the opportunity to opt out of data scraping but I never got the memo and I cannot find a way to get another opportunity. Grimes did you tweet about it back when you were making nfts - maybe you warned us? anyways its yuck. I know its happening to everyone, but still feels like being punched in the face. I hope you enjoyed my portfolio meta yeti.
I do know where I live there are rules through PIPA about this stuff and they successfully challenged OpenAi about this and they had to retire the GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 models because were trained on the scraped data.
