Regarding the reported @binance security incident. Hare has no direct or indirect exposure and funds remain unaffected. Our team will continue to be monitoring developments and is in contact with all counterparties and partners. We’ll share updates if anything changes.

Centralisation was the problem.
 Centralisation saved the users.
 Decentralisation was the exit.
Decentralisation would've prevented it. The answer is no longer in picking a side. It's knowing which layer needs what limiting possible damage if the right controls are in the right places.

Good thread for anyone who needs to catch up. The largest exchange had a single point of failure and the market will feel it for a while but all things considered. Great job from @tether @circle @aave @Paxos and others with the quick, decisive and effective actions a lot of work needs to be done.
Binance hot wallets lost ~$6.28B across 8 chains today. $6.07B went in the first 55 minutes, and the attacker kept re-sweeping one Ethereum wallet for two more hours. Since then Tether, Circle, Ripple, Paxos, World Liberty and Binance have frozen ~$2.80B. About $3.27B can still move, mostly BTC and ETH. I traced it all on-chain, including how the attacker raced the freezes 🧵

This is great for the users. It’s the right action from Binance. My only concern is this happening again because we can’t keep covering the hole. It’s inevitable they’ll come back for more and soon. As an industry security needs to become the number one collective priority.
User funds are safe. Binance will cover all hacking losses. Deposits and withdrawals are temporarily suspended while our team conducts security checks, freezes funds, and works with law enforcement. We will share a full post-mortem once the investigation is complete. Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates.

It’s pretty much the only way it’s done. Work harder work smarter, repeat over and over.
Revolut CEO Nik Storonsky: “The US is not that competitive. Europe is even less competitive.” “China is competitive.” “China is 9/9/6. Even if you are good in Europe, or in the US, how can you out-compete the people who work 9:00 to 9:00, six days a week?” “I started in a co-working space with 140 companies. Within 5 years, only 3 companies survived. They all worked on the weekends.” “Within 10 years, only 2 companies survived out of 140.” “Working weekends is a must if you want to survive. Purely statistically.”

when your entire thesis is aligned with one of the largest banks in the world. @aave will be the infrastructure that enables onchain capital markets to scale to trillions. @hare_xyz will be the partner that won't stop until all assets are useful onchain. all assets...
New @Citi research positions Aave as a collateral mobility protocol for tokenized capital markets. It calls collateral mobility one of tokenization’s most important use cases, with Aave able to take on functions that move tens of trillions of dollars in traditional finance.

Everything is coming onchain. Cash. Treasuries. FX. Equities. Private credit. Private equity. Commodities. Structured products. Mortgages. Real estate. Insurance. Royalties. Alternatives. Compute. All of it. 🐇
Trillions of dollars in assets are expected to move onchain. But bringing them there is only part of the challenge. That's why we're building an onchain credit desk. We announced it last week, and this edition of Questions & Alpha dives even deeper. gsr.io/insights/connor-milne…

An intense 24 hours. I’m thrilled to announce that @hare_xyz is out of stealth. As co-founder and CEO, I can say this is the most exciting chapter of my career so far. We’re backed by @GSR_io and @turtledotxyz , with a $100m multi-year capital commitment from GSR behind us. The response since we announced has been overwhelming, so thank you to everyone who has reached out. Here is what we’re building and why I think it matters. Trillions of dollars of assets are expected to move onchain over the next five years. Bringing them onchain is only half the job. Someone has to understand, price and manage the risk underneath them, and present it in a way institutional capital can trust. Today, curators manage around $7bn onchain. Some run hedge-fund-style strategies chasing performance. Others scale stablecoins across chains chasing incentives. Both are valid models. Neither was built to absorb the wave of real-world assets now arriving, or to serve the buy side that wants exposure to them. That’s the gap Hare steps into. We’re a curator with the ambition and discipline of an investment bank, and there’s no better place to start than credit. DeFi has plenty of attack vectors, and the market has built around the ones it already understands: security, smart contract and oracle risk etc The challenge on the horizon is the offchain component behind many of these assets: where the capital is actually deployed, and what sits under a strong name and an attractive yield. We underwrite every layer, and we’ll publish our reporting openly, including how much liquidity is available instantly and how much takes longer under stress. Ok theory is fun but the questions I’ve been asked most are how we execute, what we offer and how we truly serve the market. The answer starts with building the strongest foundation possible. That’s why we’re launching with two products, both powered by Aave Aave Labs. The first is a dollar vault for any major USD stablecoin, built for scale. The second is a gold vault built on Paxos’s PAX Gold. Giving the world access to yield on gold reminds me of the magic in finance, and why so much of its future will be built onchain. The journey is long, and our ambition is bigger still. I see a future where onchain markets become the venue for global capital formation, and raising capital onchain, whether equity or debt, is simply the default. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. To @SuperChad15 and the Turtle team, who built the infrastructure that turns our products into machines and backed this from the first conversation. To @xinsong86 @Palmstierna @KunzAlain the GSR team, whose belief and market expertise sit behind everything we do. And to our partners at Chainlink Labs and Hypernative. I couldn’t ask for better people to build with. If you know me, you know I love the grind, but I’ve never been more excited to get to work. If you're interested in what we are doing, let’s talk.

Hare moves us one step closer to building a vertically integrated tokenization stack. Our goal is to help clients bring a wider range of assets onchain faster, at lower cost and with less complexity, with curation tailored to each asset’s risk profile. Proud to have @connorbmilner leading @hare_xyz and to be building it with @gsr_io. Curation strengthens the stack we can offer asset issuers.
Onchain finance needs underwriting across the full credit stack: assets, counterparties and liquidity under stress. Hare is being built to assess those risks and make them legible to investors and issuers.

A lot of the conversation about bringing real-world assets onchain focuses on the assets themselves. I think the harder question is how we underwrite the risks behind them. As more assets come onchain, the market needs people who can assess those risks, explain them clearly and help investors understand what they’re actually taking on. That’s why we’re building Hare. DeFi has developed strong ways to assess smart-contract and oracle risk. But many real-world assets also depend on offchain credit and counterparties. To understand the risk, you have to look beyond the onchain structure: Where is the capital being deployed? What is the underlying credit? Who are the counterparties? How could problems move through the system? A strong rating or familiar name doesn’t answer those questions. You also have to ask what happens when everyone wants liquidity at once. How much can be returned immediately? What takes longer? Have those scenarios been stress-tested and explained clearly to investors? Calling anything riskless would be a lie. The job is to understand the risks, model how they behave under stress and be honest about the results. We’re launching with dollar- and gold-denominated earn products. Gold is an interesting place to start because people already understand it as a store of value. Bringing it onchain creates the opportunity to build new utility around a familiar asset. Longer term, I want onchain markets to become a serious venue for capital formation in their own right. That will take more than putting assets onchain. It will take underwriting people can understand and trust. I spoke with GSR about why we’re building Hare and what we’re working toward: gsr.io/insights/connor-milne…

Let’s advance onchain finance
Connor Milner says many of the assets coming onchain end up as "a dumb vault with nothing to do." "A lot of assets coming on chain need credit facilities, need to take leverage, need real use cases." "But there's space for a model that's more like an investment bank." "A lot of them just become a dumb vault with nothing to do." "We offer an end-to-end service from origination to DeFi composability." @connorbmilner @hare_xyz
