In the 10 years of the 4 team playoff they played 30 playoff games. 18 were decided by 17+ points.
Examples of teams losing those games - Clemson, Washington, Florida St., Oklahoma, Michigan, Alabama, Oregon.
In a win or go home situation, games can quickly get away from even good teams. We've seen this in football our whole lives. Some weird takes out there.
