The beta isn’t even out guys
FM27. One question: What did we actually learn from FM26? FM26 had a terrible UI. But tactically? It gave us something valuable: variety. META tactics worked. Control Possession worked. Recreations worked. We even managed to build an Allegri-style system and remain competitive. Different ideas could survive inside the same engine. Now the first FM27 data is making me ask questions. If pressing effectiveness has changed so heavily, why? Are we nerfing Gegenpressing specifically, or pressing itself? Because those are NOT the same thing. You can play Control Possession and still need to win the ball back. You can defend deeper and still press specific moments. Real football is not “press” versus “don’t press”. So what is the objective? More realism? Fine. But then another question: What do Football Manager players actually want? Some want realism. Some want to build a story. Some want their striker scoring 60 goals. Some want balanced scoring. Some want tactical recreations. Some just want to play 100 hours and have fun. FM26, despite all its problems, allowed many of those players to coexist. My concern from the early FM27 data is simple: have we gained realism by losing tactical variety? I haven't played a single minute yet. Right now I'm only testing the environment and calibrating the new testing system. These are still limited vacation runs. The serious work starts when FM27 is officially released. Then we go much deeper. Home vs Away. Large samples. Preset testing. Proper controlled data. Not vacation crap. No verdict yet. Just questions. Because before hunting the FM27 META, I want to understand what kind of engine we're actually playing. We test, we don't guess. #FM27 #FootballManager

Declan Rice is unbelievable. The intensity he can consistently play at is out of this world and I don’t mean just physically intense but his decision making, constant presence, constantly leading, is always able to know what the game needs in sync with what Arteta wants. Unreal

Replying to @nonewthing
United doing that with Wes Brown and John O’Shea 20-25 years ago. Centre halves playing full back. Prob before you was born 👍🏼

They’ll call my boy Zaha a bum though
🇪🇸🗣️ Nico Williams: "Neymar Jr, Cristiano Ronaldo, I have always liked these kinds of attackers. Wilfried Zaha, who I haven’t already named, I LOVED him when he was at Crystal Palace." 🔴🔵 "He was a player that I loved to watch. I cut my hair like this to look like him. I tried to copy Neymar, Ronaldo and Zaha's dribbles, to copy them as much as possible and move like them, just to do 5% of what they could do." (France Football)

Reviving a sleeping giant challenge and youth challenge all in one, Italian football has been dead for a while

The match engine has always been zonal. You never ever saw players on FM pressing man to man, heavy metal football, tackles flying in Especially if you watch it on extended or key highlights. They think this is FIFA and even then the pressing is horrible on the game

This could be about anyone from Amorim down to Moyes
Man Utd sacked the only man who was willing to make the hard decisions to change the culture in the club and start a proper rebuild btw

Aggression has been the best attribute on Football Manager since 2021

FM27 is easy, you just need to have understood how this game is played over the years and to be patient with the tactical effectiveness

Everyone’s tryna do high press/counter pressing but not working. I know why

Yep. I’ve evaluated what my players are good at and not good at. Looked at where we can create goals, where we score them, our best chances as a team to win the ball and where to trap the opposition
Are your tactics translating onto the pitch in FM27 so far? #FM27

Mainoo with ‘comes deep to get ball’ playmaking and stamping his authority on the game. We’ve set up in a mid block, using zonal traps (touchline) using oppo instructions and trap ones.

We have no attackers who have high work rate + aggression and determination so if we try to press, they’ll bypass us easily. Prioritised training so the tactical familiarity is up 25/10. Top of the league. Third most goals, crosses and transition galore. Mid-blocks on #FM27
