"En masse". They overthrew a democratically elected president. That's not a rule of law or democracy. Changing one master for another is not freedom. At least the first master built infrastructure and gave them cheap gas in return for being neutral. The new master turned them in to a disposable weapon. How are free markets doing by the way? They make Ukraine nice and rich or just the pockets of the corrupt politicians? Putin doesn't hate anything. He is a president of a country and as a president of a country his interests lie in the protection of said country. I know the concept is hard to understand where US presidents are just token figureheads who never actually do anything to make lives of their citizens better but do try to imagine a world where presidents actually care about their countries. You keep throwing the word freedom around but everyone by now knows that when Americans say freedom they just mean "you are about to get fucked". On that definition, you are correct, Russia definetly doesn't want your type of freedom.

I respect that Czech President Petr Pavel, as a former NATO general, would like to fight. I would therefore appreciate it if he respected the fact that I prefer peace.
Czech President Petr Pavel, whom I have always treated with respect and due regard as the head of the sovereign Czech Republic, often tends to comment on my work. This time, he took issue with my position on attempts to provoke a military conflict between NATO and Russia.
I understand that, as a former NATO general, he would like to fight. I expect him to respect my commitment to pursuing peace. Let me therefore repeat once again, so that there can be no doubt:
1️⃣ The West’s military rhetoric and the search for a pretext for a military conflict with Russia are intended to distract from the liberal world’s inability to address basic challenges such as the price and availability of energy and fuel, as well as illegal migration.
2️⃣ As long as I am Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, I will not agree to Slovak soldiers taking part in any military adventure provoked by anyone within NATO.
3️⃣ In the event of an actual armed attack against one or more NATO member states, the relevant Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty provides NATO members with several options for demonstrating solidarity.
