I've felt for a while that the community aspect of fandom has been splintered but seeing how many people just want fic authors to shut up and write fic for them to passively consume without any communal reciprocity feels so so sad

And I think my issue, the one thing I can’t look past, is that the entire situation adopted a corporate internet “opt out” mentality which I think is the antithesis of fandom. People shouldn’t have to “opt out” of being in these drives, everyone’s done this all backwards.

Have you considered respecting authors wishes and copyright law and waiting 2-4 weeks for ao3 to be restored what is wrong with you people? Our work is being stolen daily and you need marvel characters to fist each other so badly you're serving up entire catalogues for free.

With AO3 now taking action against people stealing fics and reiterating that creators of fanwork DO own the right to their fic I really hope the people who died on the hill that it's ok to repost fics without consent can be honorable enough to admit their mistake and apologize 🙏

In light of ao3.life and the ai audiobooks, i hope all of you sharing google drives realise that you are part of the problem here. The kid used the google drive fic collections as his source for the website. Others will probably do the same and not be kind about it
