This is not complicated. I am Christian. I believe if you are worshipping ANYONE or ANYTHING other than Jesus Christ, you are worshipping a demon. I believe Jesus fully when he says “I am THE way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father EXCEPT through me.”
And 1 Corinthians 10:20 tells us what those of other religions sacrifice to their gods, “they offer to demons.”
This does not mean that I don’t love and appreciate people who do not follow Jesus. But it does mean I recognize and proclaim that if you are not following Jesus, you are following a false religion.

When Emi Vatavuk’s mother suddenly suffered a grand mal seizure while they were home alone, Emi didn’t panic.
She FaceTimed her grandparents nearly 700 miles away in Georgia, stayed with her mom and helped them get 911 on the way. Then she helped roll her mom onto her side.
And when paramedics arrived, there was one more problem: the apartment door was locked.
Emi couldn’t reach the deadbolt, so her grandmother told her to grab a chair.

Sometimes backing the blue means calling out government overreach when it wears a badge.
And this case is WILD.
A tiny Texas police department arrested Jennifer Combs on a FELONY charge after she used Facebook to raise concerns about the town’s water and ask residents what they were experiencing.
She spent nearly 24 hours in jail - for her FACEBOOK POST!
Here’s where it gets insane: Trinidad had already issued a boil-water notice before her arrest.
Then the whole thing started unraveling: a grand jury refused to indict her.
A judge later said officers had withheld important information when seeking a warrant in the case.
The police chief resigned.
County prosecutors stopped accepting cases investigated solely by the department.
And now the STATE has effectively shut the Trinidad Police Department down after regulators found it failed minimum standards and could not demonstrate a public benefit to the community.
Combs is now suing, alleging her arrest was retaliation for constitutionally protected speech.
Free speech means very little if criticizing your government can get you thrown in jail.
Sometimes calling out the establishment is exactly what accountability looks like.

The Kennedy Center Board voted nearly unanimously to close the building immediately for safety reasons and prepare for reconstruction. Renovation cannot begin until the D.C. Circuit rules on the Board’s approved name.
In the meantime, $17M raised by President Trump has been placed in the Kennedy Center account to keep it afloat.

I’m late to this discussion. On occasion, I have very much appreciated @JonahDispatch’s commentary, but throughout this exchange his tone is elitist condescension instead of sound reasoning. Here @SteveDeaceShow says Hinduism is antithetical to our founding principles, and Goldberg’s response is to cite the performance of Indian students in our schools. It’s like saying, “Well, your hair looks funny.” It’s a non sequitur. That Hindu students (Asian students in general, actually) often do well in our institutions in no way disproves @SteveDeaceShow’s point. Hinduism — and Islam and Buddhism — are utterly antithetical to our founding principles. Indeed, they contradict them. I’m shocked any educated person would think otherwise. Do better.
You people should be ashamed of yourselves. Point to a social indicator where Indian-Americans under-perform? This anti-Indian bs is all being marshaled against them as if Indian-Americans drag America down, but the complaint is also that they outperform the average American. Which is it? If Hinduism is so awful, why do its practitioners do better than average in school and business and are under represented in terms of crime, divorce, out of wedlock birth, etc? Pick a lane.
This country was founded upon theological diversity and moral consensus. Indian-Americans are exemplars of that ideal.
This blather about the incompatibility of Hinduism is just pretextual boob bait for bigots.

If a claim needs "secret knowledge" in order to be true, chances are it's a lie. You're shamed for demanding evidence. You can’t judge unless you have the secret. You can't test or verify it. Which is sorta the point.
If something is true, it corresponds to reality. Reality isn’t private property. Multiple people can access it.

The information you and NBC Boston provided was absolutely and completely singular in nature.
You all provided his date of birth for heaven's sake! In writing.
You all also provided , date of arrest, date of complaint, specifics about charges, district where offense occured, specifics about an RO, after the juror was already pointed out as being one of only three male jurors.
In the FBI we have informants.
It is critical that we protect them. That means we can't provide what we call "Singular Information" about their identity.
What is singular information?
Information that makes their identity unique to them so they can be identified. This is Exactly what you all did.
How did you get his name if it was impounded? From one of the female jurors you spoke with?
You all said in the piece that no one in his family knew that he was a juror on this case.
You all did everything in your journalist power to Dox and punish this juror for his vote under the guise of "jurors like him shouldn't have been impaneled", yet you overlooked another juror with a criminal history.
What you all did to him was wrong in every sense as you all cut at the very fabric of our judicial system.
A better question, Sue, is what didn't you all say to avoid identifying him...
That answer is Nothing.
It was a hit piece.

Meryl Streep is a brilliant actress. That isn't the point.
C.S. Lewis wrote Aslan as Christ. Male. He. The Son of the Emperor-Over-the-Sea.
Netflix has chosen a woman to give voice to that explicitly male Christ figure.
This doesn't happen in a cultural vacuum. For years, Hollywood has been deliberately breaking the connection between biological sex, gender and identity, particularly in stories presented to children.
Male becomes female.
Female becomes male.
And eventually the audience is expected to pretend there are no differences. As if they weren't there.
Now that treatment has reached Aslan, one of the most recognizable representations of Jesus Christ in children's literature.
This is not “artistic vision.” This switch from male to female of a representation of Christ in literature is both disrespectful of C.S. Lewis' original work and and the man himself.
At what point does “inclusion” become the deliberate erasure of the source material, and a mockery of the Christian faith at its center?

Casting Streep as the voice of Aslan is an astonishingly arrogant. Gerwig’s comments about, “Meryl Streep is one of the greatest actresses alive,” isn’t the point at all! No one questions that. Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the greatest actors too. That doesn’t mean you cast him as Lucy Pevensie.
Why? Because Aslan isn’t some generic figure with an interchangeable identity. He’s male. Lewis wrote him as male. He’s repeatedly called “he.” He’s a king, not a queen. He’s the Son of the Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea. And, Lewis explicitly conceived of Aslan as what Christ might be like if the Son of God entered a world like Narnia. C. S. Lewis is telling you what he was doing IN THE BOOKS!
Giving Aslan a female voice isn’t daring or profound or some brilliant act of creative genius. It’s an act of creative vandalism pretending to be artistic sophistication. It’s more ideological slop produced by the machine that’s given us plenty already.
Gerwig was handed one of the most beloved works of Christian fiction in 20th century, and decided that even the central figure needed her brilliant editorial correction. Her arrogance has turned a potentially great movie into her ideological vanity project, and it will cost the studio.
This garbage is what makes people distrust modern adaptations. She didn’t enter the author’s world with humility, she’s dragging the author’s world into hers in an attempt to update (code for correct) the author and story. Aslan isn’t accidentally male or thoughtlessly connect him with Christ, the incarnate SON of God, the Lion of Judah. Those choices were intentional and belong to the very architecture of Narnia. Geta doesn’t care. She knows better.
Look, if you want to make a movie about a magical lioness voiced by Meryl Streep, knock yourself out. But at some point you should have enough integrity to admit that your reinterpretation is more important to you than faithfully adapting it.
Narnia doesn’t need Greta Gerwig to make it interesting. It just needed Gerwig to discover why it already is.
