I belive him breathing air is wasteful, but you know, thats just my personal opinion.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman believes people owning RAM is wasteful, and that it belongs in data centers instead. "From a global allocation perspective, actually, it’s quite terrible to have everyone have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer."

I'm floored. Cygames paying out of pocket to reimburse flights and lodging expenses for everyone who went out to LA for the canceled show is an unprecedented gesture of goodwill. I don't even want to think about how much money this is going to cost them, just wow.
We have updated the details of reimbursement for trainers who had planned to attend 7th EVENT WORLD TOUR: THE STAGE in LOS ANGELES. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please see our announcement: umamusume.com/news/100113/ #Umamusume

7th EVENT WORLD TOUR “THE STAGE” in LOS ANGELES』につきまして、誠に残念ではございますが、公演を中止せざるを得ない状況となりました。 umamusume.jp/news/detail?id=…

It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the cancellation of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby – 7th EVENT: THE STAGE in LOS ANGELES concerts planned for Oct 22–23, 2026. Although we have coordinated repeatedly with all parties concerned and explored every possible option in our efforts to make this event happen, we were unable to obtain the necessary visas for entry into the US, so we have come to the painful conclusion that holding the concerts is no longer possible. To all the Trainers who were eagerly looking forward to the show, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and concern this causes, and for announcing this so close to the event date. Due to this cancellation, we will process refunds for the following: ・On-site viewing tickets ・Streaming tickets In addition, we are looking into possible responses to Trainers who were planning to attend the concert in person. This will take some time, so we ask for your patience. Details will be announced on the 7th EVENT WORLD TOUR official website. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes to all the Trainers who were eagerly looking forward to the concerts, as well as to the Umamusume cast, partner company staff, and everyone involved who put tremendous effort into making this event happen. Please see the link below for the official notice: umamusume.com/news/100113/

OpenAI people, if there was ever a time to prove that that cultural norm of openly posting disagreement is real, this is it.
Last week I said we should wait for more info on OpenAI's firing of safety researchers. That information is in, and it looks incredibly bad. Korbak - whose job was being a liaison with METR - was told he had said too much to METR and was fired for that reason.

From Scott Alexander's response to Steven Pinker on AI doom. It’s quite shocking to find out how many AI safety people actually prefer human disempowerment (via AI utopia) to simply carrying on our real story of progress without bringing into existence entities smarter and more capable than us. Insane to look at the progress of the last 500 years and call it civilisational childhood.

The world described here would be phenomenally unjust and unfree. It would make most hitherto-known despotisms look humane.
Hear me out. The value of human labor is trending toward zero. Some of the most talented people I've ever worked with can't find jobs right now. And the people who don't see what's coming are responding the exact wrong way. More degrees. More certificates. More skills. The belief that if they make themselves more valuable to an employer, they'll be safe. This is not the way. The world is dividing into two classes: the labor class and the asset class. The only way out is owning assets. Scrimp. Save. Convert every dollar you can into things that can't be inflated away. Gold. Land. Bitcoin. To a lesser extent, stocks. Investing in the value of your own labor is a great way to go broke slowly. If you do invest in your skills, do it for exactly one reason: to convert that labor into assets as fast as humanly possible. Labor is the on-ramp. Assets are the only way out.
