The finishing line is the starting line.
After watching the incredible reviews roll in, seeing Star Wars: Galactic Racer launch today, jumping in and racing players, and most importantly, watching so many of the people who made it take a well-earned victory lap, I wanted to add one last thought before my launch day ends.
Three and a half years ago, Fuse Games came to us with a small team, a big idea, and the conviction that it was time to bring racing back to Star Wars. We believed in them, and we believed in the game.
What followed was a fantastic collaboration around a shared ambition: celebrate the past without being beholden to it. Make something unmistakably Star Wars, but give it its own identity, characters, and attitude, find where we could push the genre forward, and say something new about racing in this galaxy.
There was also a wonderful lineage to draw from, from the hot-rod culture that emerged after World War II, to George’s love of cars and racing, the world he captured in American Graffiti, and ultimately Star Wars itself. We kept coming back to those ideas as a North Star for the game: a racing culture born from a galaxy emerging from war, where people rebuild old machines, find their community, and create something new. For me, that felt like an authentic way to bring Star Wars into this genre.
And, of course, put in some spectacular crashes, explosions, and Podracing. =)
Getting to pull on those threads, then watching talented teams turn them into characters, worlds, repulsorcraft, stories, and ultimately a game that looks, sounds, and feels this good to play, is one of the great joys of making games. Games are hard to make. Great games are even harder, and they only happen when talented people believe in an idea and in each other.
I’m enormously proud of @Fuse_Games, our team at @LucasfilmGames, our maestro @GordyHaab, and everyone across @Lucasfilm, @WeAreSecretMode, Disney Games Group, and all of our partners who helped make this game what it is. You should all be incredibly proud of what you made. We always believed this one was special.
Now it’s your starting line. Grab your helmet. 🏁
What a fantastic tribute. #IYKYK

Fuse Games has built the podracer we have wanted since 1999, and the racing lives up to every second of it. The question is whether the photo mode can hold on to that feeling once everything stops moving.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is SUPERB.
I haven’t played a racing game that’s this fun in years.
It’s beautiful, funny, fast, and just wow.
I am not a Star Wars fan, but this is a 9/10 game. Truly excellent.
Wouldn’t it have been fun to see former Huttball players Biddy Blas and Grozz go head-to-head?
Ah, what could have been…
Not that I’m suggesting anything, of course.
Star Wars Hunters is playable again! 😲

After Star Wars: Zero Company and Galactic Racer, Lucasfilm says it will "continue to surprise" gamesradar.com/games/action/…

Lucasfilm says they are "exploring" Star Wars games that will "surprise" fans:
"I think we’ve tried to be more flexible about like...who we’re willing to take pitches from and good ideas can come from a lot of different places. You don’t have to necessarily be a top five publisher to make a great Star Wars game. We have a high quality bar and we want to make sure there excellent experiences and that means typically you work with more experienced teams than, you know, new teams who have no track record of of making great things.
We’re exploring all kinds of things that large and small with partners that I think are going to continue to surprise folks who are like, ‘Oh, they’re doing a thing with them. That might be interesting to see how that turns out.'"
