Joe needs history to begin on October 7 because everything before it fucks up his morality play. Between January 1 and October 6, Israeli forces and settlers had already killed 237 Palestinians. By September, Israeli forces had killed 38 Palestinian children in the West Bank, making 2023 the deadliest year for them since records began.
So no, people weren’t protesting a state that “hadn’t done anything yet.” They were protesting occupation, blockade, raids, demolitions, settler violence and the bombing already underway.
Erase everything before October 7, then portray anyone who remembers it as celebrating October 7. That’s the entire propaganda move.
