I am a bit confused when people balk at the amount of fascist in the Ukrainian army. Like fuuuuuuck, I thought the armed forces was an anarcho-communist queerplatonic support network of open-minded humanists!
Every army is full of fascists! Only fascists join!
If anything, the Ukrainian military is significantly less fascist by volume because of conscription. And TO BE CLEAR: Ukraine should be free, this war should end, Russia is an imperialist fascist dictatorship, and if you have any thoughts otherwise, you're a really stupid tankie.
I do also love the sort of secret LARP of people talking about how crazy and wacky 2020 is and forgetting to mention the (fucking awesome) combat rules of "when you get shot, roll to not freak the fuck out and pass out immediately".
Honestly I don't mind the Cyberskeleton that much because it is like, pre-Konpeki Araska's hubris and gratuity given form as a stupid thing no one would actually use. David dies for a stupid exec's stupid idea for a stupid man-mech that wouldn't be better than a 50 y/o Dai Oni.
I'm sorry but 'rule of cool' isn't carte blanche to disregard other people's opinion, people can have differing ideas on what is cool.
Cool in cyberpunk to me is like, Morgan Blackhand being the best mercenary in the city with one cybernetic arm, blowing a dudes head off with a .50 caliber pistol, Johnny Silverhand getting bisected by Adam Smasher. Actually jacking into the net as a chair guy.
Yupi's sort of just Patrick Bateman if he got some other guy to do all the killing for him and people seem to love that guy #noticing
Look I like Edgerunners but we can all admit Magnetic Dragon is very silly and very in-form for studio trigger and is not at all comparable to 'erm, there's a talking gun in the game!'
Studio Trigger’s novel ideas for Cyberpunk as a setting are usually incredibly stupid and make it worse not better. CDProjekt Red would never write something as stupid as the Cyberskeleton or Project Capricorn, and it is excessively obvious that these things were just barely over the threshold of what CDPR would tolerate.
Paper Moon King didn't seem so scary at first, but turns out it's actually the Vehicular Manslaughter Stand
It's like, I don't like the simplified combat rules, I don't like the lack of weapon attachments, I don't like the 'Medium/Heavy/Very Heavy' weapons stuff. There's less stuff to buy so you don't feel as drowned in capitalism.
I wish I fw Red's design a lot more cause the book is definitely more palatable to modern visual design tastes but, fuuuuuck I prefer 2020 as a game so much more
