A lack of clarity & consistency in the guiding principles of standards-based grading (SBG) has thwarted efforts to reform flawed grading systems. Hopefully, the insights shared in this new article will provide a basis for meaningful & successful change.

Dear @RepJeffries, pls do not extend the PTC. That money goes directly to the big insurance companies. The law allows them to keep 15pct of the 26b as profit. But it gets worse.
They can game that number with their subsidiaries.
They will deny care and make patients fight to get the care they need.
With or without the PTC the deductibles are unaffordable, and the max patient OOP is worse. If you can't pay the deductible, all you did is give the money for free to the insurance companies that we should break up
What should we do ? See my next week for some suggestions
Leader Jeffries: We also need to extend the ACA tax credits, which have resulted in tens of millions of folks losing health care or being forced to pay premiums that, in some cases, have increased by up to $1000 or more a month. These are working class Americans, or middle-class Americans, who are having to bear the brunt of this dramatic increase in health care costs.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you can focus on affordability issues —and— hold criminals accountable.
When you don’t hold criminals accountable, you’re giving them a strategy to be more successful next time.

Senior Advisor to Ken Paxton says “our churches, Christianity—it’s all gone” after the blue wave last night.
If you think Christianity is gone because of these election results, then you weren’t worshipping Jesus… you were worshipping the Republican Party.

We must shout this from the rooftops. Don’t get too comfortable with the results from tonight. Voters are giving Democrats a chance — and the only way we can win over voters is by coming out of the gate swinging and making big, bold meaningful change.

Should be noted that @marceelias and many talented & ethical lawyers helped protect our elections from relentless and still-ongoing illegal tactics by the current administration. Tonight is very different if those without ethics & honor had prevailed. But they didn’t. Thank you.

Against all odds, with almost no one outside of my family, friends, and closest team members believing it was possible - the woman who wrote the tweet below and started this journey by Googling “how to run for office in Texas,” has flipped an 18 pt Republican seat to become the next Texas State Representative for House District 132.
This is OUR home, and together, we did indeed take it back.
From my day one promise: Zero outside influence. Zero corporate PAC money. Zero values compromised. Just neighbors talking to neighbors and working together to fight for our community.
Of the PEOPLE.
By the PEOPLE.
For the PEOPLE.
PERIOD.
Tomorrow, we sleep. Thursday, we get to work.
Thank you for asking! And for anyone curious about my journey, I’m happy to share.
I got my first job at Boston Market on Fry Rd when I was 15. It’s a McDonald’s now, which is a shame, because I miss the sandwiches.
My second job was at Schlotzky’s on Mason Rd (old location)
From age 17-19 I worked at Cracker Barrel at I-10 and Barker Cypress.
From age 19-22 I was a bartender. I also got married and had two kids.
At 23, I was divorced with 2 small children and at a cross roads.
I woke up one day and decided that wasn’t the life I wanted for myself or my children. So I moved home with my mom and I enrolled in a Radiology Technology program.
My schedule for the next 2 years was:
School M-F 7:00a-3:00p. Come home, spend time with my kids. Put them to bed and then go to my bartending job from 8:00p-2:00a - back at school at 7:00a the next morning.
I graduated and my first job out of x-ray school was as an x-ray tech in a hospital working what they call a compressed weekend. I worked both Saturday and Sunday from 7:00a-11:00p for a total of 32 hours.
Only, at $16.09 an hour, that wasn’t enough to support my family. So I got an advanced certificate in Mammography and worked at a mammography clinic during the week.
I did that for 4 years. 72 hours a week for 4 years.
Then I was fortunate enough to be promoted into an Imaging Manager position. Not yet ready to slow down, I worked in that position as my day job, while also working at a free-standing ED as a CT/x-ray tech for a 12 hour shift each weekend.
Oh, and while doing all this, I was also chipping away at my Bachelor’s degree.
It wasn’t until 2020 when I graduated from college that, for the first time in 25 years, I had only one job and wasn’t either working a second job or also attending school.
After a break of a few years, I am now working full time and running for office in every second of my spare time.
So, Jay G (if that is your real name), which part of that life experience would make me unqualified to understand the unique challenges that we are facing in this world?
Happy Sunday, everyone!

Let me make this abundantly clear: If you’re claiming Democrats are campaigning to “change the gender of three-year-olds,” name the candidate. Produce the quote. Show the actual policy.
There isn’t a single democratic candidate running for Office, who has ever said that they want to change the gender of three-year-olds.
In fact, there isn’t a single candidate who has come out in support of any sort of sex change surgery for any person under the age of 18.
This is all a problem that they made up in their heads because they know they can’t run on inflation, gas prices, or the economy

So today for Trump’s closing midterm pitch he goes to the reflecting pool and brags all about working on the reflecting pool that 99.99999999999999% of Americans don’t care about and it has no effect on their lives like continued high inflation, high cost of living, high cost of gas/diesel does.
Then he is asked by a reporter if he’s going to bomb Iran after midterms and he says “no” but now it’s being reported that in the past few hours (evening before midterm elections) that we bombed an Iranian missile defense system on Qeshm island in southern Iran near the Strait of Hormuz.
Again a war most Americans do NOT support and has hurt Americans with high gas and diesel prices and a war Trump claims he’s won like 50 times, after promising no more foreign wars during the last election campaign.
Then he post a video promising to give every adult American a $5,000 check only if Republicans win, after failing to deliver the other promised DOGE and tariff checks to the American people.
And in the video he says if Democrats win we will go into a horrible recession because of Democrats, yet he’s been President for the past two years and will STILL BE President for two more years.
It’s all like listening to a really bad home salesman lying and making up ridiculous claims about a piece of crap product he’s selling as he refuses to leave your living room and you really regret letting him in the front door.
Hair and all.
And his campaign team, WH staff, and all Republican candidates desperate to win all stand there, applaud, and tell him, “great job Mr, President”

Ron White: Eight of Ken Paxton’s assistants turned him into the FBI for fraud... They sued and won $6 million. Guess who paid that $6 million? You and me paid the $6 million for his bribery. His own party impeached him. He’s a criminal.
Rogan: They're surprised that Talarico is ahead of him in the polls.
White: I’m not. I think that people are sick of what's going on right now in Texas. They've been in control for 30 years. What have they given us? Let somebody else drive.

Republicans promised no new wars. Then started a new war with Iran.
They said it would be a short excursion. We are in the eighth month of the war with no end in sight.
We were promised gas under $2 a gallon. It has been over $4 a gallon for more than 170 days now.
Prices were supposed to come down on day one. Then tariffs were enacted, and a war started driving inflation higher.
The war in Ukraine was supposed to end. It continues to rage on.
DOGE was going to save so much money that every American would get a check. Instead, it stole our personal data and cost more than it saved.
Tariffs were supposed to be paid by other countries, but we paid them. They were illegal and refunded to the corporations making record profits.
Everyone was supposed to have more money in their pockets due to tax cuts. But the Republican policies cost everyone more, except the richest Americans.
Job creation slowed. GDP growth slowed. Unemployment rose. Housing became even more unaffordable. Millions lost their healthcare. The deficit rose. The debt exploded.
You don't reward politicians who lie and fail so miserably. You fire them by voting them out of office.
