At @CUPEOntario we know through our @CACOParamedics work that what is happening in @cupe911 - the huge shortage of skilled caring professionals in vital emergency services is in no small part due to underfunding - and is happening in communities across #onpoli
"Niagara EMS workers from CUPE 911 are raising an alarm loud and clear that ambulance wait times and code zeroes are happening far too often – and we will continue to see them happen if nothing changes" @JeffBurch_

"Our sector is under-resourced and underfunded. Paramedics are leaving their services for better wages and benefits, and going to services that offer full-time employment. This takes a toll on the rest of us trying to carry the load, physically and mentally. Our communities deserve better, we deserve better.”

I stand in full solidarity with Niagara Paramedics, Dispatchers and Occupational Therapists fighting for better working conditions to help address the recruitment and retention crisis. 1/3

The residents of Niagara deserve to have their medical needs met by professional paramedics, dispatchers, and Occupational Therapists, but meeting those needs is becoming increasingly difficult due to the staffing crisis in Emergency Medical Services. 🏥🚑
The fact of the matter is that there is a recruitment and retention crisis in the region and it’s having a direct and devastating impact on the health and safety of residents.
Niagara paramedics and dispatchers are in bargaining now for better working conditions so that they can sustainably support the health and safety of residents.
