SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

National aggregate home prices will continue to chop sideways with low volume for years, imo. That's been my view since 2022 and still is.

What happens when companies need more money, but investors won’t buy the debt? ⚠️
@jam_croissant says that’s where the bubble risk gets dangerous. He believes the U.S. government will step in, and that its support could keep the boom going for years.
What if it doesn’t?

And Bitcoin? A new 4-year cycle bull market could be underway, based on its power law patterns. There doesn’t seem to be a narrative, but then again, bull markets rarely start with one.

Your occasional reminder that nobody has "lost control of the long end" of the bond market.
The yield curve is flat. Yields are broadly high, from short to long, because inflation is persistently above-target.

Inflation update:
1. US CPI Inflation: Up to 3.7%, nearly 2x Fed's target
2. US PPI Inflation: Up to 6.3%, over 3x Fed's target
3. US Core PPI Inflation: Up to 5.0%, 2.5x Fed's target
4. US PCE Inflation: Last at 3.4%, 1.7x Fed's target
5. Brent Crude Oil: Up to $106/bbl, up +73% YTD
6. Fuel Oil Inflation: Up +74% year-over-year
September officially marked the 67th-straight month with CPI inflation above the Fed's 2% target.
The US Dollar has lost nearly one-fourth of its value in 5 years.
The time to take action is now.

5 OF THE LARGEST TEN BANKS IN THE US HAVE NOW ENTERED A BEAR MARKET TERRITORY.
Bank of America: -23.5%
Wells Fargo: -20.1%
Goldman Sachs: -24%
Morgan Stanley: -24%
Capital One: -25%
Along with this, the KBW Nasdaq Bank Index has dropped 15.6% from its peak and has hit a 5-month low.
Historically, bank stocks peak before the recession, and if this decline continues, it'll be a sign that there's a lot of trouble ahead for the US economy.

As a structural bond bear, I actually don’t find this recent bear surge in bonds surprising. The yield curve is still flat, nothing is broken. It’s almost expected.
But now, the more people talk about it, the more I might become neutral on bonds.

"45% of the S&P is now negative beta. Basically... when the market goes up half goes down now."
"That has never happened before. Zero. Never."
Getting technical: All indicators are saying the rally began on Friday, similar to April 2026.
Nasdaq New Highs - New Lows has bottomed and is currently in uptrend.
S&P 500 Volume McClellan Summation Index is another indicator suggesting markets will rally into the midterms.
Finally, the most reliable indicator S&P 500 50 day / 200 day also is clearly pumping upward.
Remember what I said before though, VIXEQ is moving upward but COR1M is stagnant. VIXEQ measures individual stock volatility while COR1M measures correlation in the index.
In plain English, when VIXEQ is rising while COR1M is flat means a handful of stocks are driving the index upward while most of the stocks can be flat or falling.
This is a stock pickers market, with low correlation and violent moves in individual stocks.

THE LARGEST BANKS IN THE US HAVE ENTERED THE CORRECTION TERRITORY.
JP Morgan: -11%
Bank of America: -19%
Citigroup: -15%
Wells Fargo: -18.5%
Goldman Sachs: -24%
Morgan Stanley: -19%
US Bancorp: -15%
Capital One: -25%
PNC Financial: -16%
BNY Mellon: -14%
Even the KBW Nasdaq Bank Index, which tracks the 24 publicly traded U.S. banking stocks, is now down 14% from its August peak.
What's even more interesting is that during the 2000, 2008, and 2020 market crashes, the KBW Nasdaq Bank Index peaked 4-8 months before the S&P 500 did.
This means if the Bank Index continues to drop even with the S&P 500 hitting new highs, it could be a major warning sign for the US stock market.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY MIND-BLOWING:
Call-option volume on the 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF, $TLT, has exploded to a record 14.9 million contracts over the last month.
This is TRIPLE the levels seen in January.
This signals rapidly growing bullish positioning toward long-term Treasuries, as call options give traders exposure to a potential rise in bond prices if yields fall.
The bet comes after the 10-year and 30-year Treasury yields spiked to 5.33% and 5.73%, their highest levels in 24 years.
Meanwhile, $TLT is down -8.5% so far in 2026 and fell -9.0% in Q3 alone.
Options traders are increasingly betting that the historic rise in yields is approaching its limit.
Risky bets on long-term Treasuries are skyrocketing.

Oil flows in the Strait of Hormuz have sharply rebounded:
Persian Gulf crude oil exports surpassed 14 million barrels per day last week for the first time since the Iran War began on February 28th.
This marks an over +210% increase from the ~4.5 million barrels per day low seen in March.
As a result, the 4-week average is up to 14 million barrels per day, the highest level in 6 months.
Persian Gulf crude oil exports have now recovered to ~80% of their pre-war levels.
This comes as the US military has increasingly secured the Strait of Hormuz and established a two-way shipping corridor along the coast of Oman, allowing oil convoys to resume through the waterway.
Meanwhile, refined fuel shipments, including gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, remain at only around 50% of pre-war levels, as these products are more expensive to transport than crude oil and some refineries in the Persian Gulf that were damaged during the early stages of the war have also yet to fully resume operations.
Oil flows are coming back, but the fuel market is still under intense pressure.

Over the past six months, unemployment rose 1.1 points for workers under 25, to 9.9%.
It fell for ages 25–54 (3.6%) and 55+ (2.6%).
This isn't a layoff cycle. It's weak hiring.
Younger workers are more sensitive to hiring conditions.

🚨 Japan Just Broke The French Bond Market
One Tokyo fund (Sumitomo Mitsui DS) didn’t trim exposure. It dumped every French government bond it held and rotated into German Bunds and short-term Japanese paper.
Not a reduction. Full exit. Something that even shocked the Financial Street.
The France-Germany 10-year spread blew past 140 basis points, the widest gap since the euro crisis.
France's 5-year CDS has spiked up to 81 basis points, the highest since 2013. The higher the number, the greater the risk of national bankruptcy.
French domestic holders are now facing a deeper mark-to-market loss and a less liquid exit to sell into the same one-way market.
Japanese investors still sit on roughly ¥25 trillion of French debt, second only to American holders and this was a single manager’s book.
Carry trades that funded higher-yielding global debt market with cheap yen just got a live demo of how fast the unwind can hit.
When the bid from Japan disappears, the largest European sovereign market has to find new buyers at the same time its own government is arguing over a deficit plan that markets already distrust.
If more Japanese money follows the same exit, the same flow that once compressed euro spreads can reprice them in the other direction.
We now understand what @yutokanzakireal meant by saying “Japan is bringing the entire house down” in response to Scott Bessent’s “I am the house now” statement:
Ending cheap-yen funding is forcing a margin call on the leveraged global debt system built on the carry trade and not just the U.S. leverage.
France just got the first real look at what Japan’s wealth returning to the homeland looks like.
