All Iconify icon components have been updated. Iconify icon components have built in redundancy to load data from backup API server if main server is unreachable. After recently rebuilding API infrastructure, I have changed API backup hosts. Now there are two API servers: api.iconify.design (main host) and api2.iconify.design (backup host), second is a dedicated backup host. Old backup hostnames are still working and will continue working in foreseeable future, but at some point in future might be removed from network.

This has been a very busy week. Added 20 more icon sets to Iconify! Yes, 20, right after adding another 10 earlier this week. New stats: 259 icon sets, 449k icons. Also restructured categories a bit.

Many more icon sets will be added to Iconify in next few days. Looking at repos, most of them use AI to either create icons or create variations of icons. Usually I don't like AI, it leads to slop, but these icon sets are actually very good! AI models are getting better!

Hosting a public API that has no keys/authentication is not simple. The biggest challenge is dealing with badly coded software that floods API with queries because you can't just rate limit a user if there are no user accounts. Some apps accessing Iconify API have been flooding API with hundreds of queries per second. That is just bad coding - instead of using queries to retrieve multiple items at one, they get one item per query, instead of retrieving only data they actually need to show page, they retrieve everything. So recently I have introduced rate limiting for searching and browsing icons as well as getting raw SVG files. Some innocent apps might have been caught by that too and I apologise for that, but not reverting rate limiting. So what to do if your app got hit by rate limiting? You can actually host your own API server and flood it all day long! In addition to a Docker image, API now has a simple deployment script. Deployment script automates server setup, file upload and starting API, so all you have to do is create a VPS and run deployment script! Documentation is available on Iconify website: iconify.design/docs/api/host…

Rebuilt Iconify API servers network. Old servers were running for almost 3 years, time to switch to new ones. New servers have 4gb of memory instead of 2gb and faster hardware. There should be no downtime or reduced performance.

Since September, we have been unable to publish because every URL under `PUT registry.npmjs.org/@trpc/` is being blocked by a @npmjs @Cloudflare WAF. You can even prove it locally, they've just wholesale blocked our npm scope. Support have not yet done anything to help.
anyone from @npmjs that can have a look at request #4870687 from me? nick tried first but got a non-response

Iconify just received first ever DMCA notice. Notice is related to URL at Iconify API. It seems to be spam, whole notice makes 0 sense, but now I have to explain it to both Cloudflare (hosting domains) and Vultr (hosting actual servers). Is this something to worry about?

Added 3 more icon sets to Iconify. Now there are 227 icon sets with 401k icons! Recent additions (including 2 more added last week) are very well designed and coded. Those icon sets are pleasure to work with. If I'm not mistaken, all were designed in Figma. It is brilliant for making icons.

CSS just killed another dark-mode snippet. 🔥 `light-dark()` for images is Baseline, newly available since September 2026. Colors already were; Safari 27 closed the gap for images and gradients. Before this, a dark hero image meant a second rule inside a media query. Now ⤵️ one declaration. 😎

StackBlitz/Bolt has been supporting my work, with no strings attached. 🙏 More than thanking them, I want to point out a fact: without their support for my full-time work on Volar, we could never have shipped Volar v3. That work fed into what became TS 7.1 Content Mappers, and helped improve the developer experience across the frontend ecosystem in a deeper way. I've been a bit quiet lately, but I haven't been resting. I might have something interesting to show you soon. 🤞
Replying to @asleMammadam
volar is the language tooling behind the official vue editor extension and vue-tsc. we sponsor @johnsoncodehk at $1,000/month.

Browsers should do CSS layout off the main thread! 🤓 Top left: @ladybirdbrowser (work in progress) Others: Chrome, Safari, Firefox

I am losing roughly $800 a month by working on MSW full-time while it's one of the most used projects in the ecosystem. Please, if MSW provides you any value, consider becoming a sponsor. I mean it when I say every contribution counts. Thank you ❤️ github.com/sponsors/mswjs

This is a real problem for maintainers. AI “Security Researchers” making up scenarios out of literally any bug or even possible user mistake, as vulnerabilities. We should not let it become normal. Otherwise real vulnerabilities won’t be taken seriously!
Last night I received "5" potential vulnerabilities. How many were actual vulnerabilities? 0. How many were bugs? 5. How many were from the same slop-bot? 5. The worst part is that if you don't engage with the AI slop horde, they will escalate, and you get a CVE slapped on your project that you then need to dispute (and it will remain disputed).

New location for pre-rendered icon components: gitlab.com/iconify-icons Packages for React, Vue, Svelte and SolidJS. One branch per icon set, which includes all icons in that icon set. Automatically kept up to date. Main branch lists all icon sets. Usage instructions in readme files. Current stats: 222 icon sets, 367704 icons. Components are rendered as SVG+CSS, where .css files include all attributes and SVG includes only tags with class names. This massively reduces HTML size by moving majority of code to CSS.

PSA: if you have a @voidzerodev sponsorship on GitHub and saw it cancelled - don't worry. We are in the process of switching our billing method and will re-activate them soon.

Currently attempting publishing icon components again. NPM: fails for large icon sets. GitHub: branches disappearing. Attempt 3: moving to GitLab. If successful, icon components will have a new home here: gitlab.com/iconify-icons

Earlier today I've announced migration of icon packages from NPM to GitHub. Well... that failed. Branches on GitHub started randomly disappearing. GitHub supposed to have limit of 5k branches per repo, but cannot handle mere 200 branches. Did not expect that. Need to rethink it...

After debugging, I've noticed that it is the same branches disappearing in all 4 repositories. All those branches are for icon sets that have many icons, thus many files: over 10k files. I don't see such limit anywhere in docs and what's worse is branches disappearing without error.
