How does a payment stay private if the chain checks it?
With a zero-knowledge proof. Your device proves the payment is valid: the money exists, it's yours, and the amounts add up. Stellar checks that proof without ever seeing who you paid or how much.
Like showing a bar you're over 18 without showing your birthday.
