When political leaders like @AndyBurnham pick and choose when to defend international law, when to turn a blind eye to its violation, and when to excuse breaking it themselves, they undermine the very principles they claim to uphold. Gaza has become ground zero for the collapse of international accountability. The entire world is watching heinous war crimes commited day after day, international courts coming under attack, while powerful governments, aided by a complicit media, continue to arm and enable those responsible, shield them from accountability, and silence anyone who dares speak out. And then we wonder how Trump, Netanyahu and Putin can act with such extraordinary impunity. Quite simply... WE HANDED IT TO THEM ON A PLATE! Every double standard. Every atrocity excused. Every violation ignored. Every voice silenced. Each one chips away at the foundations of international law, until those foundations mean nothing at all. International law cannot be something we invoke against our enemies and abandon for our allies. The moment we accept that distinction, we abandon the rule of law in favour of the rule of power. And when power becomes the only law that matters, no nation, no people, and no one is safe. Because what we allow to happen in Gaza doesn't end in Gaza. Every time we excuse the inexcusable, we don't just give the powerful permission to act with impunity. We teach them that there are no limits to what they can get away with.
This is the same Labour Government letting B52 bombers take off from British soil to bomb Iran - while people here at home pay the price of Trump's illegal war in spiking energy prices. Warm words about ending the war won't cut it - Burnham must end the UK's participation.

Fact check: Labour are arming a genocide. Andy Burnham and Ed Miliband offer apologies over Gaza - but continue to arm a genocide. Labour call those who oppose the genocide - even those of us who are Jewish - antisemitic. More and more people see through this absolute charade.

Leaked Israeli documents reveal how Benjamin Netanyahu's government waged a secret campaign to stop boycotts of Israel in Britain. That included a "sensitive" meeting with Michael Gove -- when he was justice secretary in 2015 -- about countering the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement. Israel’s lobbying campaign was led by its justice minister Ayelet Shaked, who met Gove in London in November 2015. Shaked, from the far-right Jewish Home party, was alarmed by a European Commission plan to label goods produced on illegally occupied Palestinian land as originating from an “Israeli settlement”. The issue was consequently high on Shaked’s agenda, with the Israeli government fearing that the labels would help pro-Palestine boycott campaigns. Gove “enjoyed” meeting Shaked and specifically requested “more information” from the Israeli embassy on the labelling issue, the leaked emails show. Israel’s foreign ministry then arranged for an analysis to be prepared for Gove “as soon as possible” on the imminent EU measures. “I am aware of the workload, but there is an unusual window of opportunity here”, noted one Israeli official, apparently referring to Gove’s openness to guidance. declassifieduk.org/israels-s…

You scrapped import tariffs on gherkins. Apart from that, it’s more of the same That’s why you were installed by the British establishment. A more jovial face, with better patter, to oversee their system of war and exploitation Labour is the problem. It is set up to make sure nothing ever changes in UK. Its role in this mission is much more important than the Tories

What complete & utter bullshit! For many of us, Jewish identity & history is inextricably linked to justice, antifascism & antigenocide. It is the actions of the corrupt, racist Israeli state that endangers Jews, not the actions of those who oppose genocide in the name of universal justice, equality & antiracism
The two largest Jewish newspapers have co-written an editorial warning that if Palestine Action wins its appeal against proscription next week then the British Jewish community will feel utterly unprotected. Sadly they’re right.jewishnews.co.uk/jn-jc-rever…

Excellent and disturbing new report from @EndCorruptionUK based on over 40 FOI requests. Spotlight has found that UK govt ministers have held 137 meetings about Data Centres and AI growth zones between June 2024 and June 2026... but they didn't meet a single environmental group. Government met only two community groups - but only AFTER the government had approved growth zones in their communities. At the same time, Spotlight found that 38 government officials had left to take positions at AI and tech firms. Spotlight is (correctly) calling for a halt on the approval of new AI and Data Centre Development zones until there has been a proper national consultation on community and environmental impacts. In other countries, these consultations have led to important new regulations to enforce environmental protections.

We demand Labour’s legal advice on Israel’s Gaza genocide be published. All of it. UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham says only a court can decide genocide. The ICJ ordered Israel to prevent genocide in 2024. A UN Commission found genocide in 2025. Palestinians deserve the truth.

A landmark trial accusing Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and 34 senior political and military figures of crimes against humanity had its first formal hearing in Istanbul today. Turkish prosecutors have charged 35 Israeli defendants, including Netanyahu and ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Israel Katz, with torture, unlawful deprivation of liberty, aggravated robbery, vessel hijacking and crimes against humanity in relation to last year’s Gaza aid flotilla. They are also accused of genocide in Palestine. The trial had its first formal hearing this morning following the issuing of arrest warrants in July and Turkish requests for an Interpol red notice in August. Charges are being pursued under universal jurisdiction, which allows countries to address international crimes occurring abroad. The case focuses primarily on incidents surrounding the illegal interception of boats from the 2025 Global Sumud Flotilla mission. On 31 August 2025, more than 50 ships carrying around 500 participants from 44 countries set off from Barcelona to break Israel’s illegal blockade of Gaza and deliver aid to those trapped there. The flotilla was subject to a number of drone attacks, most notably off the coasts of Tunisia and Greece, before being illegally intercepted by Israel in international waters. Those on board were detained and have accused Israeli forces of subjecting them to human rights abuses including rape, assault, degrading treatment, withholding of medical care and more. Turkey negotiated the release of hundreds of participants, including a Novara Media contributor, on charter flights to Istanbul, where legal and medical teams gathered evidence of severe mistreatment. “This trial is not just about seeking justice for the 101 victims represented in this case; it is a fundamental challenge to the doctrine of impunity," said the Global Sumud Flotilla legal team. "When states use armed force against unarmed civilians attempting to deliver life-saving relief to a starved population, individuals within that chain of command must face judicial scrutiny." The trial in Istanbul comes as prosecutors in Rome, Italy, expand an investigation into Israeli officials for the mistreatment of 50 Italian participants of Global Sumud Flotilla missions. Officials including Ben-Gvir, Katz, IDF chief of staff Eyal Zamir and 11 others are being investigated for suspected torture, kidnapping, personal injury, robbery, property damage and damage causing danger of shipwreck.

The report on antisemitism in schools provides a fascinating study in the parallel universes independent and mainstream media occupy. Indie media has done it's job, scrutinised the report and highlighted its glaring inadequacies. The entire mainstream has simply reported it uncritically. /1

Sainsbury's has posted an annual profit of ÂŁ1.02bn. It current has 10,000 young people working for free, paid by you. With ÂŁ1.02bn it could hire 105,905 people aged 18-20 for 16 hours a week all year. Why not MAKE the scumbags hire instead of giving them free workers?

Two weeks ago you were saying the Labour Party got it wrong on Gaza. Now you're accepting a report that will effectively ban meaningful and robust criticism of Israel in schools - and which plainly amounts to discrimination against any person expressing anti-Zionist views, despite it being a protected belief. It candidly and despicably says Muslims disproportionately express antisemitic views, because they hold anti-Israel views. It says 45% of all British people are antisemitic because they believe Israel treats Palestinians like Nazis treated the Jews - such would make NAZA antisemitic too. It recommends schools more actively involve Prevent - PREVENT! - where students express anti-Zionist or anti-Israel views. Appallung, gutless, reckless and inflammatory stuff, none of which will withstand even cursory legal scrutiny. The Labour Together Project lives on in the muscle memory of this genocide-complicit Labour administration.
Antisemitism is a scourge on society and we are committed to stamping it out. We’ve accepted all 27 recommendations of the Bell Review, including encouraging schools and colleges to adopt the IHRA Working Definition. We will continue to promote its adoption internationally.

Very important. The National Education Union effectively rejects the key recommendations of the new Independent Antisemitism Review, rejecting the IHRA Definition and suggesting current approaches create a hierarchy of racism. Directly says the report "will not tackle antisemitism." This review looks like yet another Labour Together Project disgrace - the long tail of McSweeney-Starmerism - that will likely inflame rather than reduce tensions in schools. Exasperating, infuriating stuff. Imagine telling teachers - teachers! In it for the kids! - that they can't talk about or show opposition Israel's genocide against Palestinian children. Here's what NEU's Daniel Kebede says: "However, recommending the IHRA definition for schools risks deepening the problem rather than tackling it, and actively undermining efforts to confront antisemitism. It is the wrong approach. The IHRA’s contested framing risks blurring the line between antisemitism and legitimate criticism of the Israeli government and the genocide in Gaza, leaving teachers with uncertainty when they need clarity. A young person’s opposition to the Gaza genocide and scrutiny of the Israeli government are not, in themselves, antisemitic. Young people must have the space to understand and discuss world events. Schools must enable young people to confront difficult issues openly and develop empathy, not drive teachers into silence or leave pupils afraid to express their views. Recommending the IHRA definition risks tightening the chilling grip already stifling classroom discussion of the Gaza genocide. Schools need practical support to confront antisemitism, not a contested framework that risks shutting down legitimate discussion. The very real risk is that children who cannot critically explore issues through classroom discussion will instead seek their answers in online and unsafe groups. “This report will not tackle antisemitism. It wrongly calls into question the professionalism of teachers. The existing rules on impartiality in the classroom are very clear and teachers take that responsibility very seriously. For three years, teachers have been responding to concerned pupils’ questions about this conflict. These classroom discussions are familiar territory, not uncharted ground. In that time there have been vanishingly few examples of the Teacher Regulation Agency holding up a complaint of lack of impartiality in the classroom. "The NEU welcomes a strengthened focus on antisemitism in the statutory safeguarding guidance and we would encourage the Department for Education to go a step further by strengthening the guidance on all forms of racism. We are concerned that addressing antisemitism without an equally clear commitment to tackling all forms of racism risks creating a hierarchy of racism. No form of racism should be minimised, and no pupil or member of staff should receive less protection. Similarly, the NEU welcomes training for staff on recognising and challenging antisemitism, but we would like to see this in the context of wider antiracism training. The lack of training and time for staff development is a real barrier and almost two thirds of teachers (65 per cent) report that they have not received any antiracism training of any kind within the past year."
