AOC: A note for Gen Z. If you want to understand millennial cringe, what you all call millennial cringe, this earnestness, imagine all the seats we flipped last night. That feeling, plus, on top of it, electing the first Black president ever. And on top of that, you did it the first time you ever voted. That hits generationally. You’ve been chasing that feeling ever since. And because you did it the first time you ever voted, you’re like, ‘Yeah, we can change the world. Why not? We did it the first time. Let’s just do it again.’

Friendly reminder that if there is no such thing as a faithful AI upscale. AI will hallucinate details that do not reflect reality and it will put your integrity at risk to present an AI image as reality
Hello my name is Olivia Reingold and I used ChatGPT to brighten and sharpen an image of a woman in Valentino shoes and a Chanel bag. After processing, it still shows these same things: a woman wearing Valentino shoes and a Chanel bag. She is a real (and chic!) woman, really wearing those items. The observation holds. Here’s the photo I took:

really neat look inside the engineering infra that drives research across ai2
We’re sharing the engineering work behind Ai2’s GPU scheduler—our new approach to allocating compute across research teams. On our largest H100 cluster, median queue wait fell from 5 minutes to 24 seconds. 🧵 allenai.org/blog/impactful-s…

Heading back from #colm2026 with a question I heard over and over from researchers and academics: are you still building Olmo models? I know it has been an up-and-down year for @allen_ai, but I’m surprised this is even a question. The next Olmo model is already training, the team is growing, our compute is growing, and Ai2 is committed to building the fully open models that the community has grown to depend on.

40 of us are here in #colm2026! Almost everyone will unequivocally agree that they, along with several of our alumni, have done their best work during their tenure @allen_ai. If you are passionate about the most challenging problems in science with/of AI, join the crew!
We’re hiring across Ai2 👋 A few roles we’re especially excited about right now: • Senior Software Engineer, Agent Frameworks job-boards.greenhouse.io/the… • Senior Research Engineer, Olmo + Molmo job-boards.greenhouse.io/the… 🧵

As you become an adult, you realize that things around you weren't just always there; people made them happen. But only recently have I started to internalize how much tenacity *everything* requires. That hotel, that park, that railway. The world is a museum of passion projects.

Will be there all week at #COLM2026, with three posters, @allen_ai booth & fun! Also, we (Asta/Aristo) are hiring for both research engineer and research scientist roles to work on open models, continual/test-time learning for scientific discovery, so def HMU if relevant! 🩷

Great to see open releases compound. 🚀 Marin’s latest hero run includes ~1.8T tokens from our Dolma 3.5 corpus, while its data-mixture work draws on our Olmix recipes and Organize the Web data-curation methodology. A nice example of open artifacts building on each other. 🤝
There’s an enormous amount of open training data on Hugging Face. What does it take to make it work together 🤗? For Marin’s 535B run, we built on 25T tokens from 152 datasets with licenses permitting training. Here’s the work between downloading those and training a model 🧵

Talking about real discovery, validated in labs, that could impact invasive lobular breast cancer patients, 15% of all breast cancers in the US! Made from public data, showing the repurposing of available treatment, which was previously unappreciated! @allen_ai @ProvSwedish
🌟New work 🌟 Surprisal-driven LLM hypothesis, now confirmed in lab, suggests immunotherapy should be tested in invasive lobular carcinoma, where patients are currently excluded from large neoadjuvant imtx trials!!! @allen_ai @ProvSwedish Humbling. 🙇🏻‍♂️ How did we get there? 🧵

🚨 At the U20 Mayors Summit, Mamdani Says the Left Has Ceded “Quality of Life,” “Efficiency,” and “Fraud and Waste” to the Right This was one of the more interesting arguments Zohran Mamdani made today at the U20 Mayors Summit, and a reminder that he can be genuinely sharp when he drops the “central casting” routine. “In New York City, there are certain words that have taken on ideological associations.” “Quality of life has come to be seen as somehow a right-wing concern. Efficiency… has been taken on as a right-wing concern, rooting out fraud and waste, a right-wing concern.” Mamdani’s argument is that refusing to engage those issues actually helps the Right. “If you are staring at an example of social disorder or social inefficiency, and the left refuses to explain either why it has happened or how they will fix it, then the right gets to point at someone in the immediate area and say, ‘That’s who did it.’” The harder question is how much of the broader Left is actually prepared to follow the advice.

I honestly do not understand why everyone is mad at Nikole Hannah-Jones! She attempted to live her values, was confronted by incredibly difficult choices, then changed her mind and worked through these choices in public with integrity! What more do you people want from her?!

"People generally like him but are unable to articulate why" is the sign of an A-tier political talent. Swing voters and low-propensity voters are fickle, strange creatures. Getting them to like you for their vague, undefinable reasons is the entire game. Ossoff has the sauce.
