Politics aside,
Im impressed by the organisation and efficiency displayed during the road works. What people see is just the surface, but below and above lies the infrastructure network thats been upgraded.
I don't believe its just the government who should take credit. The fisherman and supply dhoanis during pre Ramadan. The staff and regular pedestrians going to work. The businesses and households without road access, some with disrupted electrical, water and sewer system.
PayPal is great news. But if every international payment ends up flowing through a single telecom-controlled wallet, we’re just replacing one problem with another.
In big countries, dominant players eventually face competition. In a small market like Maldives, dominance can become permanent. Digital payment infrastructure should be open, not concentrated in the hands of a single gatekeeper.
The chinese came and built a bridge. The indians came and build a bridge. Only a handful in the country realize the true treasure they dug from underneath.

What’s absent is mitigation.
No effective sediment control. No exclusion buffers. No adaptive monitoring.
Safeguards mandatory in Europe are quietly dropped once projects move to developing nations

EU-registered dredging companies know the difference.
Deep-water extraction is possible but costs more.
So cheaper lagoon sand is offered instead, and governments under budget pressure are steered toward ecological damage

When Sri Lanka faced its financial crisis in 2022, the IMF approved a 4‑year Extended Fund Facility after months of negotiation. Yet the Debt Sustainability Analysis (DSA) failed to account for climate shocks. With recent climate calamities, it is now impossible for Sri Lanka to stay aligned with the IMF programme.
The Climate Vulnerable Forum has long called for reforming the DSA to properly value resilience investments and natural capital, and for a reformed G20 Common Framework that includes automatic debt standstills in response to climate shocks. @KGeorgieva @POGourinchas @TheCVF #SriLanka #ClimateChange #DebtJustice #IMF #ClimateFinance #Resilience #GlobalSouth

This might be the most disturbing AI paper of 2025 ☠️
Scientists just proved that large language models can literally rot their own brains the same way humans get brain rot from scrolling junk content online.
They fed models months of viral Twitter data short, high-engagement posts and watched their cognition collapse:
- Reasoning fell by 23%
- Long-context memory dropped 30%
- Personality tests showed spikes in narcissism & psychopathy
And get this even after retraining on clean, high-quality data, the damage didn’t fully heal.
The representational “rot” persisted.
It’s not just bad data → bad output.
It’s bad data → permanent cognitive drift.
The AI equivalent of doomscrolling is real. And it’s already happening.

The price of Coconut oil has doubled in 2025 to ₹500 per litre
Coconut oil is now the costliest edible oil in India - despite India being the 3rd largest producer of coconuts in the world!
Thieves are forming organized gangs to steal coconuts from trees in Kerala - something has seriously gone wrong with the global commodity market.
Why has the cost of Coconut oil shot up so much?⤵️
