Action.
Rising fuel costs are squeezing North Carolina families’ pocketbooks and creating challenges for farmers across the state. North Carolinians can’t afford to wait. Today, @SenatorBerger and I are calling for a special session of the General Assembly to provide immediate relief at the pump. More details forthcoming.

Thank you to the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association, the largest law enforcement association in North Carolina, for endorsing our campaign for NC House! As your Commissioner, I have been a strong, effective advocate for law enforcement, firefighters (who have also endorsed me), and their families. As your Representative, I will continue fighting in Raleigh for these brave public servants to ensure that they always have what they need to do their jobs and come home to their families.

Two years since Helene devastated Western North Carolina, we remember those we lost and honor the resiliency of all who have tirelessly rebuilt. Since that day, the General Assembly, led by our Western members, has worked alongside families, farmers, small businesses, volunteers, and communities to help them pick up the pieces.  Our mountains have come a long way, but we know the job isn’t finished. We’ll keep working until WNC is fully back on its feet.

On this 25th anniversary of 9/11, Chair LeAnn Pierce and I joined our local firefighters to thank them for their daily commitment and courage and to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice on that terrible day. We will never forget. God Bless Our Firefighters and God Bless America. Forever and Always.

I lived in Chapel Hill when this horrible rape and murder occurred. The Durham District Attorney refuses to seek the death penalty here. I don't know why and I disagree. It should be on the table for the judge and jury to decide.
More than 13 years after UNC student Faith Hedgepeth was killed, a Durham County judge will hear key pretrial motions Monday that could shape what evidence jurors hear at trial. Here's what both sides are asking the court to decide. LATEST DETAILS: cbs17.com/news/local-news/ju…

The Democrat Socialists of America (DSA) has spent over a year placing unauthorized, non-compliant benches painted with political propaganda at Wave Transit stops. No permits, no ADA compliance, no City of Wilmington or NCDOT approval. To date, the city has taken no action to remove them. Even worse, according to WECT a few days ago, “a city spokesperson said the city continues working with WAVE and DSA, and that no decision about removing the benches has been made.” What? The city is working with the DSA, an organization whose platform calls for replacing capitalism with socialism as well as abolishing the US Senate, Electoral College, and Supreme Court? Apparently so, I’m afraid. A recent DSA video on social media explained that they are indeed working with the city and Wave to allow the benches to be donated (see screenshot from that video below). In case you don’t know, New Hanover County contributes a substantial amount of money to Wave every year. We also have numerous appointees to its board of directors. Let me make something very clear: I will do everything I can to ensure that New Hanover County plays no role in this apparent partnership with the DSA. Now, earlier today, the Cape Fear Proud Boys has posted a public notice ordering the repainting, removal, or destruction of any DSA-built benches. The Proud Boys apparently took one of the DSA benches, repainted it with their own colors and logo, and reinstalled it at a Wave location. Photos of both are attached. This is exactly what I (and others) predicted would happen. It will not end well. Enough is enough. I am tired of waiting for others to act. I’ve requested authorization from NCDOT for New Hanover County to remove these benches from the state right-of-way, since neither we nor Wave have authority on our own. If the city needs help removing the benches on city streets, we will be more than happy to help them also. I will not abide further lawlessness or calls for vigilantism by the DSA, the Proud Boys, or anyone else. And I will not abide further inaction by local government. These benches will be removed. Law and order will be restored. - Commissioner Dane Scalise

"By Reporting by Anna Roman. Produced with AI assistance." Pretty slick for the elected officials of Cary that the N&O and AI will come to their rescue after they are revealed to be living high on the hog with unlimited taxpayer dollars. VOTE THEM ALL OUT.

Get this champ in the general assembly.
As soon as I voted to pass the New Hanover County budget (no tax increase and fully funded core services!), I traveled to DC to advocate for our county to our federal leaders. Over the last few days, working alongside the American Flood Coalition, I met with Senators Budd and Tillis as well as the offices of Representatives Rouzer, Murphy, Davis, and Harris. I advocated for needed FEMA reform and flood resilient infrastructure investments. These issues are critically important to every single citizen of our county and our state. Hurricanes, floods, and other natural disasters are NOT political and are, unfortunately, not "ifs" but "whens." My job as your local representative is to make sure we are ready. I will go wherever and talk to anyone to make sure we are.
