🎮#CHIPLAY2024 we explore how games and immersive tech can bridge emotional distances. With 140 participants, we found that digital games and texts, depicting near or distant locations, equally reduce psychological distance and enhance engagement @danielfgaleote @VirtualEconomy

What an excellent piece. Reminds me of Rushkoff's classic. Deep down, the economic elites do think about environmental collapse. They just have maladaptive, selfish, magical thinking-adjacent ways of dealing with it. Clueless and feel disempowered to change anything.

Then, we develop the findings into a user-centered design agenda and framework for game-based climate change engagement. The framework can also be applied to game-based engagement with other complex issues! Read it here: doi.org/10.1145/3616961.3616…
