Jean-Luc Picard remains the single most compelling vision of progressive politics I am familiar with — secular, rational, compassionate, egalitarian; a believer in progress & abundance but also duty, hard work, and a constant battle for self-improvement and improving the world.

Try as I might, my words don’t suffice. I am so blessed to have worked with one of the greatest as he purred my name, “Tasha” with such grace. My colleague, my Captain, “no good-byes, just good memories…”#StarTrek @SirPatStew #PatrickStewart

Jean-Luc Picard was one of the best characters in all of tv and Patrick Stewart was a genius. As a diehard Trekkie I am so saddened by this news.
