I truly believe a bipartisan push for large scale heath care reform is inevitable, with this, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid all in various forms of disarray.
NEW: ACA Marketplace benchmark silver premiums are going up 13% next year. This is the second year in a row of double-digit premium increases. 4th steepest increase ever

Josh Turek needs to turn this Hawks-Hawkeyes thing into votes somehow. If he were on that committee, Eric Schmitt wouldn't have pie on his face today.

I got a bunch of less-than-happy notes after posting this, so let me be clear: it's not that these orgs (AMA, AOA, state orgs, etc) don't often take positions that are good for patients. It's just that it's literally not their institutional or even legal charge to do so.
This is a great time to remember that physicians groups exist to advocate for themselves...not patients. Ohio doctor group backs Ramaswamy over Acton; Some upset with nod dispatch.com/story/news/poli… via @DispatchAlerts

Kudos to Brazil and Mexico for bucking the American-led trend of strangling the Cuban people. Biden missed a huge opportunity that teed up Trump's larger criminal operation. Trump’s Economic Vise Leaves Cubans Desperate for Food and Medicine nytimes.com/2026/09/17/world…

I truly hope the dreadful @LauraLoomer continues to insert herself into the Ohio gubernatorial race. It'll be the end of the Ramaswamy campaign.

It's a scandal what we've let them do to higher education. The MAGA vision is literally idiocracy.

Expanding eligibility for Medicare would be a lifeline for Americans close to retirement but being squeezed out early by an ailing economy and a labor force starting to be replaced by AI. It's also extremely good politics. wapo.st/4x8V6Dv

Angrily re-naming bodies of water because you weren't able to negotiate a better trade deal is the kind of childishness reserved for tinpot dictators with only the most fragile of egos. Donald Trump is the Idi Amin of the Western Hemisphere.

The Trump administration is making it really hard to take care of kids. The disrespect of health professionals is disgraceful. HHS accuses Nationwide Children's, others, of insurance fraud over transgender care dispatch.com/story/news/heal… via @DispatchAlerts

AI's inevitable inroads into medicine will force a big and much-need philosophical debate: what is necessarily human about human medicine--and what is not? If we do it right, it could be good for physicians, not a threat.
Let me make one correction to what I posted. AI will replace most doctors tasks! Because most of their tasks are bullshit administrivia introduced by the huge HC conglomerates that serve no purpose. Asking whether AI can replace doctors practicing medicine is the wrong question and approach to improving care The question is whether there is anything middlemen like PBMs and ASOs and their subsidiaries do, that AI can’t replace ? Doing so will give doctors far more time with patients and improve the quality of life for healthcare providers and patients. And it will reduce the cost of healthcare dramatically Replace the middlemen with AI

Mark Cuban just pushed back on the "AI will replace doctors" debate today. Here's what you need to know. Cuban replied to Dr. Suneel Dhand, who said AI could take over most of what doctors do within 5 to 10 years. Cuban argued human doctors bring real time observation, judgement, and empathy that AI lacks, like noticing a patient collapse and doing CPR, or learning from a colleague that a patient's parent was abusing them. The fight ties into a JAMA perspective published August 17, 2026 by Ezekiel Emanuel, Abe Baker-Butler, Neal Khosla, and Vinod Khosla, arguing autonomous AI could outperform physicians and physician-AI hybrid teams on cognitive tasks like diagnosis and treatment planning. Key numbers: - JAMA perspective published August 17, 2026 - Dhand predicts AI takeover of most doctor tasks within 5 to 10 years - Khosla and Emanuel say AI-only care could beat physicians by 2030 - One meta-analysis of 83 studies found AI diagnostic accuracy at 52.1%, roughly matching physicians Cuban says no doctor knows how a patient will react in real time the way a human can, so AI will stay a tool, not a replacement.
