Darius J. Young

Derrick Rose shocked fans with his NBA GOAT pick, and it wasn’t Michael Jordan. The youngest MVP in league history revealed in an interview with Hoops Hype that his personal GOAT is Isiah Thomas, not MJ. "I mean, my GOAT now is Isiah Thomas because he's from Chicago. The only guy who beat Magic, Mike, and Bird all in their prime at 6-3. Chicago's way of doing sht. I used to say MJ, but it wasn't MJ... I'm not a two-guard. I don't score like him at all. So it was just me admiring his story." Rose explained that his perspective shifted because he relates more to point guards, and Isiah’s story represents Chicago basketball the way he sees it. Of course, the choice might not sit well with Jordan, who famously had a bitter rivalry with Isiah and the “Bad Boy” Pistons during their battles in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. For Rose, it’s about connection and respect for a fellow Chicago native who beat legends like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Jordan in their prime.
