Eileen Nearne, known as Didi, parachuted into France as an SOE wireless operator in 1944.
Just 23 years old, she sent critical messages under the noses of the Gestapo until her capture.
Enduring solitary confinement and Ravensbrück, she maintained her cover even under torture.
Her resilience helped keep Allied networks alive during the D-Day period.

23 September 1944 | Probably on this day, due to the decommissioning of Bunker No. II, the SS carried out a selection among the prisoners of the Sonderkommando. More than 200 of them were taken from Birkenau and—under the pretext of being transferred to one of the subcamps—were taken to the area of the so-called Kanada I warehouses. There, they were deceitfully led into a disinfection chamber and murdered with Zyklon B.
The bodies of the victims were transported to crematorium III and burned. The cremation was carried out by SS men, who had first taken the Sonderkommando prisoners out of the furnace hall.

The President of Argentina is wrong to make demands over the Falkland Islands at UNGA.
The Falkland Islands are British and we must stand firm in defending them and resisting any attempts at lawfare and the use of UN institutions to undermine our sovereignty and the right of self determination of the Falkland Islanders.
There should be no negotiations.
Our Armed Forces showed great courage, bravery and sacrifice to defend the Falkland Islands in 1982 and we must honour their memory by defending the freedoms they fought for.

We’ve found alarmingly high levels of PFAS “forever chemicals” in the blood of people living near a chemicals site in Lancashire.
49 people tested. 70% had levels in a high risk health category.
