The best part of a sex party is the invitation. It’s such a confidence boost. And that confidence stays even after declining the invite. We should have “invite only” sex parties in the sense that there’s no actual event, only invitations. Would be good for morale

I can’t believe me feeling physically sick every early morning of my entire life was not only real, but like. Went away with adhd meds!!! I would never in my life have put that together.
BREAKING: Sleep and neurology researchers confirm that "morning grogginess" in ADHD is actually severe Sleep Inertia—a state where the prefrontal cortex takes up to 60 minutes longer to restore blood flow and dopamine signaling after waking up than a neurotypical brain. If waking up your ADHD child (or yourself) at 7:00 AM feels like trying to wake up a hibernating bear who wants to fight everyone in the house, here is the science of why:
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The linked study is a conference abstract showing a statistical association between sleep inertia symptoms and adult ADHD. It does not measure or mention prefrontal cortex recovery, blood flow, dopamine signaling, or a 60-minute difference academic.oup.com/sleep/article/…

it's a huge clue about the real nature of ADHD that rejection sensitive dysphoria is such a common symptom / comorbidity. that tells you that ADHD is not really about "attention" as such. gabor mate's book title "scattered minds" gets closer; something is scattered which wants to be regathered, something is diffuse which wants to be dense when you're scattered you're unsure who you are or what you want or what to do or what to pay attention to so external influences push and pull at you more generally. you're grabbing onto external things to check if they might be your self or your feelings or your desires (this is what you're doing when you're doomscrolling btw) so if you get rejected it feels devastating because you're grabbing onto it and you're like is this me? am i fundamentally bad and unlovable? is it the essence of me to be rejected? there's a different way that can go if you're less scattered, denser, which is harder to describe because it feels like almost nothing, but it feels like almost nothing because of your weight, because of gravity, and a random rejection just doesn't have enough weight to it to perturb your orbit. you can collect together the mass of you, you can move together coherently, in harmony, the accumulated weight of your entire life, everything you've experienced and done and sensed and felt and know. you can become heavy, like grief but also like a mountain, not immovable but vast, tectonic, forested, snow-capped

they aren't kidding when they say autistic people like pokemon because a lot of criticisms of the games are just "this doesn't fit arbitrary rules or patterns"

“Tweeting, but not texting back?!” Yes, because monologuing costs much less mental energy than dialoguing. A dialog requires me to call up and analyze all my memories with a specific person to constrain my responses according to the context, whereas a monologue does not.

Autists really gotta learn this one reliable trick: 1. BRIEFLY tell someone about something you’re interested in (as in, keep it under a minute, or ideally under 30 seconds) 2. WAIT to see whether they solicit further information 3. IF they only act polite, STOP talking about it

There's reason why most people diagnosed with ADHD also get diagnosed with some form of depression and anxiety.
