I took a lot of time this morning fleshing out my stance on LLMs and where I think both moralistic critiques and messianic claims fundamentally misunderstand the technology. It’s not all slop and it’s definitely not “AGI.” But there’s a kernel of truth in both stances. Long🧵...

The myth of ‘empirical science’ is the means by which the liberal state encloses and gains control over philosophy. This is especially true with ‘empirical psychology’ and the ‘social sciences‘ where a diversity of philosophical sects was replaced by centralized ‘expertise’.

Asking “how do you get Americans to stop voting Red/Blue forever” is like asking “how do you get Americans to stop watching the Superbowl”— it would require the same thing— an objective collapse of the State.

MMT correctly exposes the myths of neoliberal austerity, but mistakes monetary sovereignty for social power. Without a theory of value, exploitation and capital accumulation, it can explain how the state creates money, but not the limits imposed by capitalist social relations.

The elite media absolutely never talks about how the Mexican left utterly crushed the corrupt narco-establishment in Mexico and instituted a wildly popular democratic socialist government that’s still going strong after eight years because they wouldn’t want to give you any ideas
Capitalism has a creation myth: the lone inventor, the handshake, the free market. The truth is enclosure, plantations, and slave ships.

There is long term policy, it’s actually quite ingenious. The commanding heights of the economy are never on the ballot. You get bank bailouts under Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden. Voters let off steam every couple years then get demobilized as the frog is slowly boiled over decades

For a while now Paraguay has been a darling of the Latin American right, a tiny free market utopia. Elites in Brazil, Bolivia, and Argentina had even started hiding money there and registering businesses.
Whole thing is now collapsing under the weight of neoliberal corruption.

Have you ever considered the possibility that China's merit based political system, that has produced the most rapid increase in living standards in human history, is actually a more advanced form of governance than performative, reality-show style elections?

BREAKING: 🇵🇾 What just happened in PARAGUAY is a WARNING for everyone on earth.
More than 3 million people (60% of Paraguay's adult population) have lost access to EVERYTHING. Their bank accounts. Their pensions. Frozen. Inaccessible.
Paraguay’s largest digital bank, Ueno Bank, has collapsed.
The president of the Central Bank (who is deeply connected to Ueno) has just RESIGNED. Eight high-level executives including the founder and the Bank President are being detained.
The people have taken to the streets to demand their money back. And rightly so.
This is the model Milei and the rest of the Epstein class are pushing. This could happen ANYWHERE. Best to save in physical gold and physical silver, imo.

If these election results teach us anything, is that people are hungry for a change in material conditions. Your job as communists/socialists is to educate and organize your communities. We have a lot of work to do
