No Kings, no comms?

I just finished @leahstokes' new book, The Carbon Wave. I'd planned to read it slowly over weeks, one short chapter each day as a break from other tasks-- to unwind. Ended up reading the entire thing in 24 hours, simply because I couldn't put it down. (1/2)
5/6 but I did. and so did some of my colleagues here at the University of Chicago sociology department. See John Levi-Martin's assessment here: osf.io/preprints/socarxiv/mn…

Leadership and Legacy; on Gloria Steinem
Thinking about all the appreciations and criticisms of Gloria Steinem's long activist life, I wonder if a more radical Steinem and Ms. could have been more influential. Answers welcome.

I'm glad to have known David Hearn so many years ago in college. In the middle of a 52 mile training ride? Completely credible and in character. Vandalism while dressed in training gear? Ridiculous!
Breaking news: U.S. Park Police officers arrested former Olympian David Hearn on a misdemeanor charge of destruction of government property.
Hearn said he touched the Reflecting Pool’s detached liner but “didn’t destroy or break or peel anything.” wapo.st/3QBU57J
