It’s publication day! Spread the word. The perfect Christmas gift for the pessimist in your life.

Professor @dbatherwoods joined host @HalderAlaka for a SuperSalon to mark Arthur Schopenhauer’s 238th birthday, exploring his book "Arthur Schopenhauer: The Life and Thought of Philosophy's Greatest Pessimist".
They unpacked how Schopenhauer went from an unexpected path after his father's death to becoming one of the 19th century’s most influential thinkers.
Together, they also discussed the urgency of his pessimism, how we confront pain and loss, and why his ideas on love, loneliness, and morality remain so deeply relevant today.

Professor @dbatherwoods breaks down the core difference between classical optimism and philosophical pessimism during our SuperSalon hosted by @HalderAlaka.
While optimists like Leibniz focused on "beholder values" and the universe's abstract aesthetic harmony, thinkers like Schopenhauer argued that what really matters are "being values", what it actually feels like for humans and animals to live in that world.
