I led AI policy in the Biden administration, and my colleague @tantumscollins was Director for Technology on the National Security Council. Our book on AI and national security -- THE BITTER STRUGGLE -- comes out in 11 days. @tylercowen said it “will become the standard source” on the history of the China chip bans and Biden-era AI policy. @crmiller1 said it is “essential reading for understanding how AI will impact geopolitics and how the great powers are shaping AI.” We wrote this book because the decisions shaping AI -- and the future for all of us -- are too important to only be debated behind closed doors. If you're planning on reading it, pre-ordering is one of the best ways to help us bring this conversation to a broader audience. penguinrandomhouse.com/books…

Apparently, someone is using my identity and requesting interviews, pretending to be a reporter for @ForeignPolicy. To be clear, this is not me and, while I love writing for Foreign Policy, I do not work there. So do not take this interview and otherwise exercise caution.

Exactly -- there will be outrageous claims without little support, but the goal is clearly intimidation (with Patel seeking to score some points with Trump)
Regarding Bolton raid: the FBI with Trump had requested for a year that he give them the classified info they knew he had. This is pure intimidation on Bolton. But there will be no conviction… it’s the raid that is the message. And nobody will be intimidated by Eyes McGhee

"For too long, the United States and Europe have turned a blind eye to Russia's "ghost fleet" of oil tankers, relying on often late and feckless sanctions to counter Moscow’s illicit economic lifeline," writes @BenjamJensen. Read more: csis.org/analysis/how-exorci…

I put together a post on "Islamic State-Related Arrests In the U.S. In 2024" to hopefully provide some context and show that the New Orleans attack fits with a higher attack plot tempo we saw in 2024 vs. 2023 and with a broader ex-ops picture globally. jihadologyplus.com/p/islamic…

"US foreign policy in the region could change on a dime... #Trump has already stated the US should have “nothing to do” with #Syria’s future. But to do nothing would give #ISIS a chance to surge once again." My latest in @nytimes: nytimes.com/2024/12/15/opini…

Replying to @Charles_Lister @UN
Ahrar al-Sham was the 1st such group to embrace the 'green' revolutionary flag, to adopt nationalist rhetoric, and to publicly critique the influence of 'external' (jihadist) actors. Criticism from Nusra, then #JFS-#HTS was swift -- but it's the model that #HTS has embraced.

Having worked on #Syria full-time since the crisis began nearly 14yrs ago, there really is no understating how remarkable the losses imposed on #Assad's regime have been over the past week. A large reason for this lies with #HTS — a 🧵:
