What pains me about the current AO3 feud is how writers are criticized for wanting positive interaction while readers' entitlement to negative interaction goes unquestioned. Writers aren't owed anything, sure. But why are readers owed the right to criticize, police, and lash out?
Same question but do you still use it if it’s just for a cliffhanger ending? Like they seemingly die but then next chapter they’re alive/have their heart restarted
It would make my day!!
Majority of the time I have to get a commission for OC or rare pair art so the rare occasion I get surprised with something it makes me so happy 🥹

The AO3 and fanfiction discourse has been wild.
Writers are fans too. We want interaction with our works. Kudos and comments are that. Writers want to yap about fandom/ships and know what the readers liked about their stories.

dude if i didn’t want people to interact with me and my writing i wouldn’t post it, i would write it in a diary and stick it under the bed. i post it to share it, of course i want interaction? connection, discussion, friendship, admiration, commiseration?

Authors want comments because they want to talk about what they put their time and energy into. If only number going up was all that mattered then nobody would be disappointed with the numerous scam comments that plague almost every new/updated work's comment box these days.

Reminder that the guy who composed Gogeta’s theme in Movie 12, Nathan Johnson, is currently a Texas Senator. nitter.cf/KFTragic/status/163793…
