Was clear at oral arg that the dispute in 303 Creative was hypothetical--not a case or controversy, as required by Art. 3. No dispute meant no actual facts to parse, leading the Court to muse about truly unhinged hypos. We discussed on @StrictScrutiny_ podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
This is a bonafide scandal. On the legal level, it means the Court decided a case that wasn't a real case or controversy as Art III requires. On the political level, it Man cited in Supreme Court LGBTQ rights case says he was never involved washingtonpost.com/politics/…

What gives @mayawiley hope? Gen-Z and millennials “by 2028 are going to be a third of the electorate…the most diverse, the most pro-civil rights, the most willing and able to say to this country: We demand a future in which everyone can be who they are.”

Hope someone is keeping list of all schools issuing statements in response to SCOTUS ruling. While it depends on how they act on commitment, early signal they’ll strive to promote diversity after, and even in spite of, ruling will be welcomed by many audiences, incl. applicants.
After affirmative action ruling, incoming Dean David D. Meyer reaffirmed Brooklyn Law’s “unwavering commitment to ensuring a diverse and vibrant educational community fully consistent with all legal requirements, including those of the Constitution.” bit.ly/BLSStatement

Collectively, these Congressional Republicans cheering on the Supreme Court overturning student debt relief for millions of hardworking Americans had $8,263,051 in PPP loans forgiven. They refuse to extend the same relief to borrowers with student debt.

False: we believed the legal basis for the heroes act relief was strong — as the Justice Dept and 3 members of scotus agreed. We did not know how radical this Court would be when potus drafted his order. We built an unprecedented govt website to deliver relief.
This seems to have been the idea all along: foisting freely incurred student debt on the taxpayers was constitutionally dubious (as Biden and Pelosi publicly acknowledged) but trying it allows Biden to say, "Hey I tried."

The @potus has other tools to help borrowers and he will use them. But let’s be clear: if in the end, students don’t get debt relief, it will be because of an activist, misguided ruling by the Trump court — not because @joebiden failed to do his part.
JUST IN: The Supreme Court blocked the Biden administration’s student debt relief plan, stopping more than 40 million borrowers from receiving loan forgiveness and delivering a major defeat to one of the president’s key campaign promises. trib.al/XUM0LUO
