more from carlos on the situation:
"let's say you're in a situation where you're competing against your teammate: you know you don't want to jeopardize the team's result, but at the same time, you want to win. this creates a certain internal tension because, although you desire victory, you're aware that you must act in the team's best interest and not take excessive risks. this has always been a reality in f1 teams. i can't recall any team that has had two good drivers battling for the top positions without problems arising when they were fighting for the wins.
you can choose to have a 'second driver'—a number two—or you can have two competitive drivers, which inevitably leads to these kinds of tensions; in my opinion, it's impossible to have one without the other. perhaps at ferrari the situation is a little more intense because of everything surrounding the team, but i can't recall a time when this hasn't happened. It's happened at mercedes, at mclaren, in recent years, and also in 2006, 2007, and 2008, and at ferrari; in fact, i couldn't say when it hasn't happened.
it's part of formula 1. if you're a team principal and you know you have two great drivers, you'll always face this challenge. i don't think it's possible to completely calm them both down and expect them not to try a maneuver to win the race"

carlos on his battles with charles:
"regarding the battles we had, it's true that when you're fighting for wins, the pressure is greater and there's much more at stake. that's why you naturally become a bit more selfish than when you're competing in the midfield for an eighth or ninth place. it's more difficult to stick to the team's ideal strategy because there's a win on the line; and back then, wins were within reach.
even so, i think i always respected charles and he respected me; we never clashed or anything like that. we simply had intense battles— i remember Monza or Las Vegas—; there were many moments of great tension throughout the year. perhaps the most difficult thing was managing the environment, the relationship with the media and, above all, the fans, who were very passionate at that time.
the situation was very polarized between charles and me. i remember suffering a bit because of his more radical fans, who insulted me or wished me ill. even some italian media outlets criticized me for not acting enough as a 'second driver' when the situation required it, and the same thing happened when it was leclerc who had to assume that role.
therefore, it was more about the pressure surrounding ferrari —and that comes with being part of the team—than any real problems between charles and me; in fact, any conflict was resolved that same night, when we talked things through calmly and managed to find a solution to move forward"

Hamilton was asked whether he feels Leclerc races him more aggressively than other drivers, with the question referencing the Monegasque's approach when battling Max Verstappen in Singapore.
Lewis : « Yes. »
When pressed to elaborate, Hamilton refused to go into further detail:
LH: « I can't say more. If you look at the teammates, it's the same with Sebastian. It's the same with Carlos.
He's been here a long time. He's at eight years. Nine wins in the team. He's very much embedded within the team, and I knew that it would always be a challenge. I've always respected that, and I've approached the team. I've really worked hard to build a good relationship with Charles and bridge the gap and make sure that we're harmonious and we work hard together. Always try to be respectful.
Naturally, it's not so easy having someone like me come into a team because I'm very outspoken, and I push and push and push and push for so many changes. »

Carlos was asked about the situation between Charles and Lewis, he mentions it can be though, but was tougher for him was the fans and the passion of the ferrari fans, he remembers being insulted and wished harm by radical fans, but between him and Charles they always solved everything the same night
“It's tough when your teammate works against you. If it had been me, I'd be the one having to explain myself right now.
As for the head-to-head battles we had, it's true that when you're fighting for wins, the pressure is greater and there's much more at stake. That's why you naturally become a little more selfish than when you're competing in the middle of the grid for eighth or ninth place. It’s harder to follow the team’s ideal strategy to the letter because a victory is on the line; and back then, victories were within reach.”
“Even so, I think I always respected Charles and he respected me; we never had any collisions or anything like that. We simply had intense battles—I remember Monza and Las Vegas—and there were many moments of great tension throughout the year. “Perhaps the hardest part was managing the environment, the relationship with the media, and, above all, the fans, who were very passionate back then,”

Last year when Lewis had the most disastrous of years, Charles defended him every single time. This year, Lewis has taken every single opportunity to destroy him in the media
