Angela Madden, chair of #WASPI said:
"This budget has shown yet again that when the government feels it needs to, it can act, but when it comes to WASPI women, we are told the cupboard is bare.
"WASPI women are still waiting for the justice the Parliamentary Ombudsman, hundreds of MPs and the public say is due.
“@andyburnham promised to meet with campaigners to discuss redress, and we expect that commitment to be honoured. WASPI stands ready to find a solution that is fair to both affected women and the taxpayer."

Now that @andyburnham is PM and has said he wants to honour pledges, will he finally deliver the compensation that @WASPI_Campaign women were promised and deserve? They have waited long enough. It’s time to put words into action. instituteforgovernment.org.u…

Hillsborough law is about Governments/organisations owning up to the truth. The Government must be honest about the mishandling of #WASPI women's state pension age increases and comply with the @PHSOmbudsman's recommendations. @andyburnham

.@UKLabour leadership promised us integrity at the last election and yet reneged on their promises to #WASPI women. @andyburnham must put that right if he really wants to show politics has changed.

I've consistently called for justice for WASPI women since first being elected
Today, I've written to the new PM urging him to honour Labour's commitments and act on the Ombudsman's recommendation.
WASPI women have waited long enough. It's time for justice. #WASPI

Independent watchdogs exist because governments should not mark their own homework. If ministers dismiss findings of injustice simply because they are inconvenient or expensive, confidence in public accountability is weakened for everyone. Today’s issue is state pension age communication. Tomorrow it could be another injustice affecting another group of citizens. #WASPI
