Ten years ago, we released the video for “The Stage,” directed by stop-motion master Chris Hopewell. The band spent two months developing the concept, and the spark was, believe it or not, “The Lonely Goatherd” from The Sound of Music. What came out of that was a marionette show under a creepy circus tent, with puppets acting out scenes of death across mythology and history, all played to an audience that cheers on every act of violence - really showcasing some of the darkest parts of humanity. Chris and his team did an amazing job executing the video, creating the scenery and puppets and directing a narrative that we hope still resonates with fans from around the world today.

The Stage Tour marked a different aesthetic to the live show. No longer relying on physical backdrops and pyro, the new design took a futuristic approach. Moving video walls that felt more like a spaceship than rock show. Flying astronauts, moving orbs and minimal lighting contributed to this new look. Who was there? 📷: @kortneyje

Today kicks off our celebration of “The Stage” 10-year anniversary. Over the next 10 days, we will be dropping new insights and BTS footage, revisiting fond memories, and releasing special exclusive items for one of our most expansive albums. First up, M.
