I went broke within a month of leaving my job to pursue trading. It was going great at first. And by at first, I mean the first 2 days. I was up $1000 on the $10,000 that I had managed to save up over the course of 5 months working at this restaurant. . . Then I lost $2000. . . Then $3000. . . It hasn't even been a week after I quit, so I started to go on tilt and take trades that were a little riskier. When they didn't work out, I still held them, hoping they would go back up eventually. . . They never did. . . I'd be up $1000 on the trade, get greedy and hope for more, just to ultimately lose $4000 on that trade. . . Now, with $2000 left, I took 1 more trade, was up $200, got greedy again and held it as it plummeted, again, hoping it'll go back up. . . My account balance stared back at me: $300. . . I had lost $9700 in less than a month, and had nothing to show for it but a stain on my pride. That money could have helped so many people in my life or even bought many worthwhile experiences, and I squandered it.
