My best friend is gone
Really having trouble with the past tensing of something that was just here.
I learned from him the most pure and uncomplicated love
He made it to 20 and it was still decades too short
Life seems cruel in its pauseless march forward, meanwhile a crater of loss the size of the sun sits locked in time, receding backwards towards a horizon I can never again touch
I dread the day I no longer instinctively turn down the pet food aisle at the store. Grief feels like the only tether keeping him present
My favorite photos of the 2000+ of him I have on my camera roll. I don’t know if anyone cares but I don’t know what else to do with the sadness
He was the handsomest boy with the most perfect little face.
He still looked like a kitten at the end
