been a close topic with many close friends recently, but as with anything this topic is quite nuanced
I believe this the case for many in the west who go to the same countries that are influenced by social media and such. in larger cities it is increasingly common as capitalism and investment needs to generate a return and these things are safe.
however, there are nuances as such with anything. many travel for the nature, for the food, for the culture. some just to be with their loved ones in a new environment. it’s not as cut and dry as with most things in life for such human experiences
modern travel is increasingly flying 10 hours to experience a slightly different version of the same globally optimized lifestyle.
same third wave coffee. same natural wine bar. same brutalist menu. same sourdough. same beige hotel. same tasteful ceramics. same instagram lighting.
what a ridiculous convergence.
