so cool! slopped this together for my google tv so i can watch it in coch potato mode 😅
Weekend hack: HackerTube. I was annoyed with YouTube's recommendations so I had Claude filter down 43M comments over 20 years of HN to 6,454 videos that keep being recommended. *Significantly* better viewing experience, ~2 hours with Opus 5.5: hackertube.org/ - Excellent recs without any logins (state is kept in local browser session) - Thumbnail is a representative frame from middle of the video instead of the super duper A/B test hyper-optimized user uploads - Underlying data from the comment analysis as one zip file, point your Claude at it and ask for your own version - HackerTube Longs ✊ A bit more on the process: I use Claude Code (desktop app for Mac), Opus 5.5 on Medium effort as my default. I only talk to Claude and have it do everything, the only "manual work" I helped with in tandem was in the browser (reminiscent of MenuGen): 1) I had to create some kind of API key from Google Cloud UI to query YouTube for video metadata, 2) I booted up a VPS box for serving and 3) I bought the domain name. Once the box was up I gave Claude the IP and told it update, secure, harden, deploy and optimize the code, and it did the whole thing. Many awesome projects that would have normally taken weeks/months even can now be few-shotted for breakfast. What else are we not thinking of.

read the anthropic contextual retieval article out of interest. though "hey, would be great to have this for xcode documentation, but apple probably already does this" let the clanker check their docs mcp, turns out they do! they return ~20 chunks as json with metadata and there's also a vector db bundled so the xcode documentation mcp should be more toke efficient and yield better results than something like sosumi, which is "just" turning docc into markdown afaik anthropic.com/research/conte…

I wrote down how my work with agents changed this year. I still break down the work into vertical slices that ship on their own. I rarely read diffs now: independent reviews and a risk check catch most of it, so my time goes into shaping and guardrails. mgratzer.com/posts/reforging…

Think I need better guardrais and a research/docs step before letting Astra implement somethingfor iOS apps. For an out of process save (share sheet) it added checkpoints and 2 second polling in the main app target instead of relying on SwifData @Query updates. When I told i to remove this it added regression tests to verify this system behaviour. No bueno. Would have thought that the model would "know better" to be honest.

adding and editing now also shows if the transaction is unbalanced

"I also throw away features way more often now. Very often I think something is a good solution to a problem, realize it doesn’t really add anything, and remove it again." great nuggets in the post, this has been my experience as well

removed dynamic type in the preview screens, it's just noise in this phase

Xcode MCP with previews is pretty neat in a coding agent. tell it to iterate part the UI and show you how it would look on different platforms

Every self-taught piano player faces two challenges: their own mediocrity and a hundred dollar subscription to see which key to press for that pesky note. I haven’t solved the first problem, but I am working on the second: testflight.apple.com/join/wg…

Yeah, why not build a full-fledged double-entry bookkeeping app? With MCP, obviously.
