I teach pharmacy students and run a marketing agency for small Indian businesses.
Printers, handicraft exporters, a parotha stall, hospitals, pharma brands.
5 things I've learned about getting them noticed online 🧵
AI can write your post in 10 seconds.
It can't tell you what your customer complained about last week.
That's why the owner still matters most in marketing.
A reel shot in 20 minutes can beat one that took 2 days.
Why? The first had a hook in the first 2 seconds. The second opened with a logo animation.
Nobody waits for your logo.
Before you hire any marketing agency (mine included), ask:
1. Show me a client like me
2. What will you report every month?
3. Who actually does the work?
4. What if it doesn't work?
A good agency answers all 4 without blinking.
Unpopular opinion:
Most small businesses don't need a new website yet.
They need a WhatsApp button, a Google profile with 50 real reviews and one clear photo of what they sell.
Fix those first. Then talk website.
Teaching made me a better marketer.
In a classroom, if students don't get you in the first 2 minutes, you've lost them.
Same with a reel. Same with a landing page.
Clarity is a skill. Practice it daily.
Pharma companies spend crores on MR visits and almost nothing on content.
But doctors scroll LinkedIn and X like everyone else.
The brand that educates doctors online today will have the easiest MR conversations tomorrow.
Diwali tip for small businesses:
Don't just post a greeting. Post a reason to buy.
Gift boxes, corporate gifting, festive combos, last delivery dates.
A greeting gets likes. An offer gets orders.
AI tools I actually use every week running an agency:
Claude for writing and thinking
Canva for design
ChatGPT for quick research
CapCut for reels
You don't need 40 tools. You need 4 you know really well.
#Urgent Help Needed
Ahmedabad, Gujarat
My friend's mother has been hospitalized because she is suffering from Liver Cirrohis for almost a year.
Her liver isn't fully functional at all.. she has been admitted & doctor is advising to transplant liver.
Idk how to have donor
Gujarati businesses are some of the best operators in India. Tight costs, loyal customers, decades of trust.
What many miss: that trust doesn't show up online.
30 years of reputation means nothing to a buyer googling you for the first time.
Name one local brand you'd recommend to anyone without being asked.
Mine are mostly Ahmedabad food spots.
That's word of mouth. Every brand on earth is chasing it, and most of them are trying to buy it with ads.
Things that grow a local business faster than ads:
Replying to every Google review
A WhatsApp catalogue
One owner video a week
Asking happy customers for a referral
Free. Boring. Works.
I'm doing free 15 minute marketing audits for 5 Indian small businesses this month.
I'll look at your Instagram, Google profile and website and tell you the 3 things I'd fix first.
DM me "audit".

Discounts get you buyers.
Stories get you customers.
A buyer leaves the moment someone is cheaper.
A customer stays because they remember you.
Build for customers.
Healthcare content mistake I see every week:
Hospitals posting a doctor's photo with "Expert in X" and nothing else.
Patients don't search for experts. They search for symptoms.
Answer "why does my knee hurt at 40?" and the patient finds the expert.
3 AI prompts I use for every new client:
1. List 20 questions customers ask before buying [product]
2. Turn these into short hooks in simple Indian English
3. Which of these would a busy owner actually stop and read?
The third one saves the most time.
"Which platform should my business be on?"
Selling to businesses: LinkedIn + WhatsApp
Selling to locals: Google Business Profile + Instagram
Selling across India: marketplaces + Instagram
Don't be everywhere. Be where your buyer already is.
Sunday reminder for founders:
Customers don't care about your logo, your font or your colour palette.
They care whether you solve their problem faster than the next guy.
Branding is a promise kept. Not a design.
Your Instagram bio has one job: tell a stranger what you sell and how to buy it.
Read yours right now.
If it says "Welcome to our official page", you're wasting the most valuable 150 characters you own.
