After 7 years, last Friday was my last day at Shopify. What a wild journey that was. Very thankful for the opportunities I was given and the amazing people I was lucky to work with along the way.
My brother @cdmcphee and I recently launched an online music store, focusing on synthesizers, guitar effects, and other fun gear for exploring sound. Looking to open a retail store in Ottawa later this spring. cicadasound.ca
This is such an important shift and a monumental step forward in how we think about a design system. Amazing work @yeseniaa @hayhughes @BPScott @kaelig and all the team!
Efficiency is a benefit of design systems, but a design system that allows you to efficiently ship a confusing user experience has no value.

👀 Shopify's admin looks a lot less purple this week.
That's because we heard feedback from merchants that didn’t feel the whimsical illustrations and purple palette represented their businesses.
