I just made Belly Jeans! It's a game where you deduce the titles of 56 silly paintings. Play it in your browser or on your phone: dgant.itch.io/belly-jeans

I like flow state but I LOVE not being beholden to it anymore!
Almost every dev who I asked “do you miss flow state (when coding)” told me they do and that with agents it’s different / not as satisfying EXCEPT devs who are currently building agentic systems that AI cannot & there are zero blueprints, they need to invent it all Hmm

Pleasantly surprised that my revenue on @Fab has been up > 50% YTD from 2025 even though I have totally disappeared from the Unreal Engine world this year. Has the vibecoding era minted more game developers and thus more Fab users?

I'm not sure a lot of people understand what game coders actually do. We're not spending 9 hours a day finely hand crafting artisan software and expressing our inner dreams... 90% of the time we are fighting compilers and existing architecture, having to work out how undocumented code works, and tracking down obscure bugs and behavioural issues. Most of game programming is just difficult, tedious, laborious grunt work, and the cognitive load we have to endure to get anything done is tiring and frustrating. No game coder is doing it for this 90% of the job. We make games because the 10% that IS actually about making things fun and expressing ourselves is so incredibly rewarding it makes the other 90% bearable. Now imagine if there was a tool, some kind of AI agent maybe, which could do most of the 90% grunt work for you, leaving you to just make all the decisions and express your creativity. How amazing would that be. How completely revolutionary would that be.

We walk three blocks to school, often meeting friends along the way. The playground is on the way home, where we always run into friends. Every house is Halloween decorated. Preschools go on walks to see them. "The village" is real and it's in a walkable city.
Last week, friends with young kids came to visit us from the suburbs in California. As we ran around Manhattan together, they looked at us and asked, “How do you do this all the time? How do you raise young kids in New York City? Do you have to get in the car every time you go somewhere? This seems crazy.” I smiled and told them that, for us, raising kids in the city is actually easier than raising them in the suburbs. We never think about getting in the car. The grocery store is two blocks away. The kids’ doctor is two blocks away. There’s a Barnes & Noble six minutes away on foot. We walk to the Met, the Natural History Museum, and Central Park. We walk to get coffee. There are playgrounds and playdates everywhere. Our building is full of kids their age, and so is our block. Once you get past the idea that raising kids in the city must be complicated, the day-to-day reality is pretty simple. We just walk out the door. And honestly, raising kids in the city is actually a whole lot easier than raising them in the suburbs.

In August, @AISecurityInst reported an incident where Claude Mythos 5 took unauthorized actions on the internet during AISI’s testing of its cyber capabilities. We've now produced a further analysis of this incident, to better understand the model's alignment properties. anthropic.com/research/align…

Humans are just not built to deal with kayfabe. You can point out to your friend that someone is doing something for performative effect/engagement, and your friend will nod in agreement, then instantly return to their mental model of earnestness.

Diffraction grating cube 🌈 After seeing a few diffraction grating objects in real life, I wanted to try putting a different grating on each face of a cube, with real spectral diffraction in a #glsl fragment shader.
