The monarch butterfly population has gone up this season by 64% and one of the reasons is because people are planting pollinators gardens. Look what we can do together with a common goal in mind. We need to plant more next year as their population is still not stable.

My SPARKBIRD - The Great Blue Heron!
This very BIRD shown here is THE bird that got me into bird photography going on ten years ago. The wild part is this is the exact same bird and EXACT spot I originally seen him - and He and his lady are still around to this day and have successfully raised at least two offspring a year since 2018.

Bay Area friends: A friend found these small kittens behind a gas station and we've been trying to find them a home for almost two months. For now, they live in a small bathroom. Would you consider adopting? They are vaxxed, neutered, and incredibly affectionate. Please help!

Last month, I wrote an article for one of my graduate school classes about this wonderful community we call Cat Twitter. I got to speak to a bunch of really awesome cats (and people too, I guess). You can read it here: carolinedavis.me/post/the-la…

Bay Area friends: would you consider opening your home to these two cuddly cats? A friend found them behind a gas station. Their sibling, a black cat, got adopted, but it appears no one likes orange cats. They are being kept in a bathroom for the time being and need a home.

If you adopt this cat, I would be happy to pay for the first month of food. Please email Haley using the contact link in her thread below.
Georgia look at this cutie!
175 days. That’s how long Valentina has been waiting for her happily ever. 💔She’s 1.5 years old, loves attention, and gets along splendidly with other cats.😺 She has been vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Let’s put an end to her waiting. fcpga.org/how-to-adopt/

Joey has found a home to rest his paws!!
CHARLESTON, WV!!
Beloved 12 year old cat Joey looking for a home where he can be a single cat. Unfortunately his previous owner has passed and he cannot permanently stay with their family. Attached is the Facebook post for him❤️
facebook.com/groups/FreeAnim…

ALT We are rehoming Joey, my grandparents' cat, as they are no longer able to care for him. Basic into: - 12 years old - Fixed Male - Healthy (only issue was a recent teeth extraction which he is now fully healed from - Up to date on all vaccines - Indoor cat only home (but LOVES looking out a window) He's very sweet, loves food, attention, and showing off in front of guests. He is very playful and loves to rabbit kick toys. He's also a pretty vocal cat when he wants something. He would thrive in a family that is regularly home, especially as the only indoor pet. He is easily bullied so we are open to homes with other cats if you are able to properly introduce them/monitor them for bullying. We are located in the Charleston WV area.

Renoir painted happiness... in the middle of war, hunger and chaos.
In 1870, the Franco-Prussian War began.
Renoir was called up to serve in the French Army.
In 1871, Paris descended into the Bloody Week.
Around 20,000 people were killed.
Food was scarce. The city was left in ruins.
So what did Renoir do?
He kept painting.
While many artists turned to scenes of suffering, he chose to paint life.
Dancing. Friends. Gardens.
Long lunches outdoors.
Not because he ignored reality.
But because he believed the world already had enough unpleasant things.
He once said:
"Why shouldn't art be pretty? There are enough unpleasant things in the world."
His paintings weren't an escape from reality.
They were a reminder that, even in the darkest times, there were still reasons to enjoy life.
The joy of living.
Were his critics right to call his work superficial?
Or were his admirers right to celebrate his joy of living?
Or does each of us simply choose how we respond to the world around us?

You've seen the meme: one opossum eats 5,000 ticks a season. Unfortunately, it's wrong.
When researchers dissected the stomachs of 32 wild opossums, they found zero ticks. The number came from a single lab study that got stretched into folklore, and it still gets repeated everywhere.
But the opossum doesn't need the lie. It's the only marsupial in North America. It cleans up carrion, rotting fruit, slugs, snails, and the rodents you'd rather not have around. It eats copperheads and rattlesnakes, because it's immune to their venom. And it almost never carries rabies, since its body runs too cool for the virus to take hold.
So when one waddles through the yard at night, you're not looking at a pest, you're looking at the cleanup crew that works for free.

Put a few rocks in your birdbath. Bees, butterflies, and other small pollinators drown in open water. They land to drink, get caught in the surface tension, and can't get out. A few stones breaking the surface gives them a dry landing pad to drink from.
