The line I heard most this week at @consensus2026: “the agentic economy will hit $3 to $5 trillion by 2030.” If that's where this is going, AI agents need to know what's safe to use, generate, and license. Right now, they're guessing. That's what we're building at @discovant, a search engine for IP that answers copyright, patent, and trademark questions with the legal reasoning behind every answer. The market wants this.

January 1, 2026 opens one of the most valuable public-domain batches in years 💎. If you’re planning to use older material, don’t leave it to guesswork... Check it, confirm it, and then publish with confidence!

The downside: If you treat something as public domain when it isn’t, you put your channel, revenue, and audience trust at risk. Verification isn’t optional anymore... it’s essential.

The upside: Public-domain material is a creative playground. You can remix it, adapt it, sample it, or build on it freely. No permissions. No licensing. No stress.

Here’s what most people miss: The year alone isn’t proof. Some 1930 works were renewed. Some had unique rights. Some kept protections for much longer. That’s why creators still get flagged even when they think they’re in the clear.

On January 1, 2026, works first published in 1930 enter the public domain (unless they were renewed or had special terms). That includes: 🎞️ films 📚 books 🎨 art and illustrations 📸 photography 🎙️ early sound recordings 🖼️ posters and more If you create online, this is huge.

Every January, the internet quietly resets. A fresh wave of creative works becomes free to reuse. 2026 is going to be a HUGE one 🔥.
